  1. Happy New Year, Edinburghpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    FT: Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

So, after a miserable Christmas, it's a very happy New Year for Edinburgh after a barnstorming bonus-point win that denies their inter-city rivals a single point.

Edinburgh move top of Pro14 Conference B - although that may change depending on how Munster fare against Leinster shortly - and keep alive their quest to retain the 1872 Cup.

For Glasgow, a bitterly disappointing afternoon. They remain fourth in Pro14 Conference A, two points behind Cheetahs, who now have two games in hand.

There's still a long old way to go this season, but not for this live text. Thanks for your company during this phenomenal all-Scottish showdown, and best wishes for 2020.

  2. 'We’ve lived in their shadow enough'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    FT: Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill on BBC Radio Scotland: "Good five points for us – good performance. It was tight as tight could be but we’ve just got to be pleased with how we played, how we stuck in. Some real quality out there but some average stuff as well. I think we can play better but I’m delighted. It’s a tough game to take six points out of these two games as it is but very important for us.

"It’s tough in the modern game because as soon as you get into opposition 22 it’s really hard to defend and they did it really well to us and we were hard on them on their goal line – we managed to break them. But we scored two quality tries from a long way out.

"I know that Glasgow have always said that we’re a kick-chase team and we don’t score tries – well we scored more tries tonight. We won the game and they get nothing. If you look at the two pools, we’ve scored more tries than them so maybe they’re a kick-chase team.

"We’ve lived in their shadow enough – why shouldn’t we enjoy the win?"

  5. What does that mean for the 1872 Cup?published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    FT: Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

Today's thrilling derby sets up a mouth-watering winner-takes-all 1872 Cup encounter on the final day of the regular season in late May.

The trophy is decided on a best-of-three basis, so with each side winning one game apiece so far, it will all come down to that Murrayfield showdown.

Of course, that match could have huge implications for the final standings in the Pro14 conferences too.

  6. 'You've got to have edge in these games'published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors head coach Dave Rennie on BBC Radio Scotland: "We’ve got to give Edinburgh credit – they stung us with a couple of long-range tries from turnovers from us. That’s probably the story of the day. We lost a fair bit of line-out ball, mainly from over-throws and made too many errors and they punished us for it.

"They found a couple of holes inside us, got right in behind us and scored off that. I thought they were very dangerous with the ball in hand tonight.

"You’ve got to have edge in these games – they’re always physical and tough contests at the breakdown. Tonight we didn’t get the speed of ball that we got last week so it was harder to put them under pressure."

  7. 'We'll scrap for every game'published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors hooker Fraser Brown on BBC Radio Scotland: "It’s disappointing. Their bench came on and did really well. We probably just lacked a little bit of energy at the end. There was some really good things in that game but we put ourselves under pressure too many times.

"We’ll do what we always do – we’ll scrap for every single game. We’ve got enough belief and confidence within the group and we’ve got the quality there to be able to win and win and win well. I thought our discipline was better this week but we still gave away some silly penalties."

Pierre Schoeman was halted short - illegally - and Edinburgh had a penalty try in the dying minutes. Gray was sent to sin bin for his part in stopping the maul.

After Gray's yellow card, Glasgow pressed desperately for a late try to draw or win the game. It wasn't to be. Edinburgh turned them over and Darcy Graham finished a sweeping 60m move to bag a late bonus point.

  9. 'It was awesome'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriors

Edinburgh flanker Jamie Ritchie on BBC Radio Scotland: "It was awesome. Especially off the back of last week. I said before the game, we’ve not been in this position in the last couple of years coming off the back of a loss in the first game so I’m really proud of the boys' efforts today. The first half was really tight – but we stuck to our system and played as well as we could and have come away with the win."

  10. Edinburgh are the 'form team'published at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

It’s been a strange game. I thought Edinburgh were under the cosh, Glasgow dominated territory and possession for good parts of the game but Edinburgh never looked like they were under real pressure. Glasgow didn’t get the scoreboard ticking over. Ultimately Edinburgh have shown that they are the form team and they’ve just got a little bit more power in the right areas.

  11. Full-time Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

What a game! A see-sawing vintage derby that was fiendishly tough to predict right until the final minute.

Ultimately, Edinburgh prevail, their forward power, game management and the pace of Darcy Graham securing five massive points that moves them level with Pro14 Conference B leaders Munster, who play later this evening.

If you thought Darcy Graham scored a good try in the first half, what a peach in the second half. He packs a punch or two, doesn’t he?

  13. try

Try Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Darcy Graham

Wow! A sensational counterattack try. Out-rageous. That's the game!

Nick Grigg fumbles ball for Glasgow as the Warriors desperate try to cleave open the Edinburgh defence. Niko Matawalu picks it up and then gets stripped brilliantly by Jaco van der Walt.

Off go Edinburgh. Matt Scott releases Mark Bennett, who draws the cover defence and gives Darcy Graham a foot race against DTH van der Merwe. Graham has the pace to win it and roar home for a simply wonderful try. Devastating from Edinburgh.

That's the bonus point in the bag too. Van der Walt can't slot the conversion.

  14. That's a bit naughty...published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

Jamie Bhatti's first involvement is not a good one. In his eagerness to clear out George Turner, he completely upends the Glasgow hooker - a stonewall penalty.

Glasgow - 14-man Glasgow - are far from done yet. It's their line-out on the Edinburgh 10m line. They win it and launch what might be their final raid of the game. A try ties the match, a converted try wins it...

  15. Postpublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

Four minutes left now. Does this topsy-turvy, ding-dong derby have another twist in store? Edinburgh have the ball and are keeping it tight inside Glasgow territory.

  16. Penalty Edinburghpublished at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

That's a huge scrum penalty. Pierre Schoeman has Zander Fagerson's reverse lights flashing. It's the South African's last act of a very impressive 75-minute outing as Jamie Bhatti comes on.

Blair Kinghorn boots play down just beyond Glasgow's 10m line.

  17. A 'magnificent' drive from Edinburghpublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

    Scott Hastings
Former Scotland player on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

What a magnificent drive it was from the Edinburgh pack. In came Darcy Graham, in came Matt Scott but without any hesitation the referee Mike Adamson heads for the post as Edinburgh took it over the line.

  18. Can Glasgow harness Fijian flair?published at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

Niko Matawalu is on for Glasgow. How the Warriors could do with their Fijian sorcerer conjuring another piece of magic.

They knock-on as they go chasing after the short restart. Edinburgh scrum on the home 10m line, from which they win a free-kick, and will scrum again.

  19. Sin-bin Jonny Graypublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow will finish this game with 14 men. Jonny Gray is sin-binned for his part in pulling down the maul.

  20. try

Try Edinburgh 24-19 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Penalty try

The Edinburgh maul is unstoppable - legally. It's very well constructed, it's a trademark of Richard Cockerill's rugby, and it's very cynically dragged down right on the whitewash as Pierre Schoeman is poised to flop over.

Penalty try and a guaranteed seven points.
