Full credit to Glasgow – the way they’ve come back into this game. George Horne – he adds such energy to this team. Great, great pick and goes from Glasgow.

    Edinburgh 17-19 Glasgow Warriors

This game is nuts. Matt Scott again lacerates Glasgow's defence and suddenly it's Edinburgh with front-foot ball deep in Glasgow's 22.

  4. try

Try Edinburgh 17-19 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    George Horne

What a response! Glasgow roar back in front immediately after conceding.

It's a sickener from Edinburgh, who worked so hard to earn a lead and then shipped a silly penalty.

Glasgow, again, are ruthless in the red zone. They drive and drive and drive until a gap opens up for George Horne to plunge over in the corner. Ruaridh Jackson can't kick the conversion. Two points in it, 12 minutes to play.

  5. 'Poor defence' from Glasgowpublished at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 17-14 Glasgow Warriors

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

They needed that Edinburgh. It’s good pressure, good score. It’s actually poor defence from Glasgow because all that Pyrgos does is he picks the ball up and dives over – there’s nobody there. A good try and makes it a game with 15 minutes to go.

  6. Who plays 10 for Glasgow now?published at 16:33 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 17-14 Glasgow Warriors

There's no recognised stand-off on the bench for Glasgow. Nick Grigg, a centre, is on for Hastings. You'd imagine Ruaridh Jackson will step in to play 10.

Edinburgh have also changed their pivot with Jaco van der Walt on for Hickey.

Glasgow win a penalty almost straight from the restart and will have a line-out inside the Edinburgh 22. A chance to strike back immediately. Fifteen minutes left, three points in it.

  7. converted try

Converted try Edinburgh 17-14 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Henry Pyrgos

There's the try! It's the former Glasgow man, Henry Pyrgos, who gets it.

The scrum is marching forwards promisingly, but Bill Mata opts to scoop the ball out one-handed and make a charge for the line.

Three Glasgow men launch themselves at the Fijian. But that defensive effort has left the fringe hopelessly exposed. Pyrgos picks, goes, and dives over from a couple of metres.

Simon Hickey converts and it gets worse for Glasgow with Adam Hastings, their play-maker supreme, forced off.

  8. Matt Scott 'cuts a tremendous angle'published at 16:29 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

    Scott Hastings
Former Scotland player on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It’s a great skill. First of all, from the line out Matt Scott cuts a tremendous angle, he then accelerates away. He feels as though he’s against the post but Jackson comes in to just get his body and to deny the replacement centre the opportunity of a great score.

  9. Postpublished at 16:29 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

Edinburgh get the drive going. The scrum buckles. Mike Adamson says it's a reset, no penalty.

  10. No!published at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

Like a goalkeeper diving to save a flying shot, Ruaridh Jackson has flung himself between ball and post protector. His right arm stops Scott from sliding the ball that last inch or so. What a piece of defence.

Scrum-five, Edinburgh put-in. These are massive, massive moments.

  11. Has Scott scored?!published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

Oh my word, from first-phase, Matt Scott cuts an outrageous line off Jamie Ritchie and is hauled down just short of the line. It's a sensational break, but is it a five-pointer? Does he touch the ball against the base of the post protector?

It looks like he's just been prevented from doing so...

  12. Edinburgh must 'hang on to ball'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

    Scott Hastings
Former Scotland player on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

From an Edinburgh perspective – they’ve got to hang on to ball and put Glasgow under pressure. They need some consistency now, they need some purchase within the game to keep the pressure on Glasgow.

  13. Record crowd confirmedpublished at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

The official crowd figure is over 27,000 - comfortably a record for an 1872 Cup fixture.

  14. Edinburgh 'good enough' to score morepublished at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

What Glasgow don’t want to do now is sit back and protect that lead because Edinburgh are no doubt good enough to score more points.

  15. Reinforcements requiredpublished at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

Both teams begin to empty their benches, Aki Seiuli and George Horne replacing Oli Kebble and Ali Price for Glasgow. That's Horne's 50th Warriors appearance.

Magnus Bradbury and Matt Scott replace Hamish Watson and George Taylor for Edinburgh.

  16. 'Edinburgh will be really, really annoyed'published at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriors

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It was a big decision but ultimately it was the right decision. You think how strong Edinburgh’s defence is and it’s a simple pop pass to Scott Cummings. It’s one of those ones – it’s such a simple try considering how physical Edinburgh have been in defence. They will be really, really, annoyed to have conceded.

  17. Postpublished at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-7 Glasgow Warriors

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

The law says you’ve got to try and wrap your arms around and there it just looks like he’s brought his hands up – but not to wrap. It’s a tough one. It could be a yellow – but definitely a penalty.

  18. converted try

Converted try Edinburgh 10-14 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Scott Cummings

This time, Glasgow pounce. The line-out doesn't quite go to plan, but Warriors reset and use their big carriers to squeeze Edinburgh backwards and backwards.

From three yards out, Scott Cummings picks an excellent line between two Edinburgh defenders and torpedoes over. Adam Hastings converts and Glasgow lead by four.

  19. Penalty reversedpublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-7 Glasgow

The penalty is reversed. Jamie Ritchie went straight to ground and didn't make enough of an effort to wrap his arms in the tackle as he flew in low on two Glasgow carriers. It's a tight call, but it's probably the right one from referee Mike Adamson.

Glasgow go to the corner. These are big moments. Henry Pyrgos is on for Nic Groom at scrum-half for Edinburgh.

  20. Hastings flies throughpublished at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2019

    Edinburgh 10-7 Glasgow Warriors

What a glorious slaloming break from Adam Hastings, who sears deep into the Edinburgh 22 and finds Huw Jones on his shoulder.

Glasgow are halted just short, and Pierre Schoeman wins Edinburgh a penalty, but we're checking with the TMO for a no-arms tackle by Jamie Ritchie in the build-up.
