That's a wrap for this evening.

An excellent start to the first Autumn Nations Cup for Ireland, who recovered from the disappointment of missing out on the Six Nations title to thoroughly outplay Wales.

Andy Farrell's side travel to Twickenham next to face England a week Saturday.

Also that day, Wales host Georgia at Parc y Scarlets.

Having lost their past six matches, Wayne Pivac and his players will be desperate to win.

They'll be expected to do so in Llanelli, even if Pivac rests some of his first-choice players.

We'll have live coverage of that game too so, until then, thanks for joining us this evening and we look forward to having your company again next weekend.

In the meantime BBC Radio and the BBC website will have all the reaction from tonight's match.

    Nos da!

    Are Wales... bad again?

During 12 years under Warren Gatland, they won three Grand Slams, four Six Nations titles and reached two World Cup semi-finals.

The lean spells of the 1990s and early 2000s felt like a lifetime ago.

Under his successor, Wayne Pivac, this year they have endured their worst Six Nations campaign since 2007 - the year they were dumped out of the World Cup by Fiji in the group stage - and lost six games in succession.

Performances have been poor, results have been worse and it is hard to see what Pivac's plan is for his team.

Next is Georgia, at least. Even with confidence as low as it is now, Wales will be overwhelming favourites next Saturday.

We did not see any of Wales in that first half. It was all Ireland.

The inclusion of the scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park was a major difference and the game was lost for Wales.

Wales hooker Ken Owens told S4C: "Confidence will be low and there's no momentum there.

"Georgia will target their match against Wales as one they can win.

"It's going to be a tough week for Wales but they'll see this as an opportunity to win and create momentum."

Wales prop Wyn Jones told S4C: "You never want to lose but there were some things we built on from the Scotland defeat.

"Some of the scrums are 50-50 calls and we were on the wrong side of some of them.

"Hopefully we're on the way up from here.

"It's never easy coming to Dublin, particularly without the Welsh fans here."

Ireland were a lot smarter in attack, got over the gainline and had quick ball.

Apart from 15 minutes in the second half, we did not see much from Wales in attack and they have to pick themselves up for Georgia.

Well deserved for James Lowe who has been everywhere in this game.

He has gone looking for work and just rewards for him.

  15. Full-time - Ireland 32-9 Walespublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2020

Ireland make a winning start to the first Autumn Nations Cup - and convincingly so.

    They crushed Wales.

For Wales and their beleaguered head coach Wayne Pivac, the problems mount.

That's six defeats in a row now.

    James Lowe

A debut try for James Lowe!

It's well deserved for the Leinster man, who's gone looking for work all over the field tonight.

From a five-metre scrum, he comes charging in on a sharp angle and powers his way over from close range.

Conor Murray converts and that is a comprehensive win for Ireland.

    Ireland 25-9 Wales

Ireland and Wales have had a spicy rivalry in recent years.

I suspect the Irish are quite enjoying this, scrum after reset scrum, grinding Wales down and hoping to rub their noses in it with one last score.

    Another Irish scrum, another penalty.

Five metres out from the Welsh try line, guess what? Ireland go for another scrum.

    Why wouldn't you?

How about that for a pick-up by Aaron Wainwright, taking a pass from Lloyd Williams at his feet, on his own try line.

But Wales make a mess of clearing their lines.

The forwards truck it up, trying to create a platform for a clearing kick but, before they can get to that point, they concede another penalty.

That's 17 penalties against Wales now.
