Woof: there is no need for England to rush there plays. Patience.

Tim, London: France showing what a dead-end England have gone down under Jones. No invention, no skill with the ball, Farrell a passenger.

Ben: This is dreadful from England. It's the same old failings - no idea how to turn things around when they lose momentum.

    Owen Farrell

Owen Farrell has left nine points on the field today but he makes no mistake with these three.

    Four points. Seven minutes.

    England 9-16 France

An incredible offload from Tom Curry sends replacement back Max Malins into a bit of space.

England look a bit more up for it as they rapidly go through the phases inside France's 22.

Henry Slade pops the ball to Jonny May on the right wing but there is no way through. England were playing with advantage but they've made no progress so they have another penalty.

Owen Farrell grabs a tee. Looks like he's taking it.

Ten minutes is ample. It is a seven-point ball game. But it needs clear, clinical communication and decision making, not just playing rugby and going through the motions.

England have had the chances, had the ball - their attack has just been too inaccurate.

More heads up, more play what you see, more moving the ball at speed?

    Louis Carbonel

    Fair play Louis Carbonel.

He is playing just his second international match and he absolutely nails the kick.

His team-mates roar in celebration as the lead goes up to seven. England have just 10 minutes to turn this around.

When you have your left winger tackling and jackaling like that, you know there has been a change in attitude.

There has been plenty of talk about England's reliance on their defence and kicking game during this tournament.

A defeat to a young, exciting French side is not going to help.

Wing Gabin Villiere wins a penalty at the breakdown and replacement fly-half Louis Carbonel is going to take a shot at goal.

How good is France's discipline? That's not an expression I have used many times in my commentary career!

England are trying to make something happen just outside France's 22.

Billy Vunipola goes at the blue line first, then Luke Cowan-Dickie but France are straight over the ball and win a penalty.

The seconds are slipping away and a France win is looking more and more likely.

That is a brilliant kick from Elliot Daly, it's the first time Brice Dulin has been slow to cover that grass.

England do seem to have the momentum now, but they only have 15 minutes to turn things around.

Elliot Daly brings the moment of magic they need. To make matters worse for Carbonel, his kick to the corner is perfection.

It bounces and dribbles out just before the corner flag.

France manage to keep the line-out and have the ball 10m in front of their tryline.

Uh oh. Not a great start for poor Louis Carbonel.

He kicks the ball out on the full and gets a sympathetic pat on the head from a forward in response.

Tom McQuillin: England are throwing this away at the moment. Two turnovers on the goalline and don’t even talk to me about Owen Farrell’s kicking... he missed a few sitters last week as well. Really poor from a normally so solid England.

Elliot Daly and Antony Watson have enough space on the right wing to prompt a roar from the Twickenham 2,000.

Watson doesn't quite have his footing though and the ball is robbed from him on the floor by Sekou Macalou.

Brice Dulin kicks to touch and the break in play gives fly-half Louis Carbonel the chance to come on.

The 21-year-old made his debut against Italy last week. What a time and place to get your second cap.

France try to launch another attack but they're doing it without a fly-half.

Matthieu Jalibert is on the floor in a haze of some sort of spray the doctor is dousing him with. He limps off the field and is yet to be replaced.

Swap it up, get it done now. You have a quality kicker in George Ford, just swap it up and get on with the game. There is such little between them, just let Farrell get on with running the game.

Ellis Genge's unexpected start has come to an end. He was called up to the starting XV after Mako Vunipola withdrew with an ankle injury on Saturday and is now replaced by Joe Marler.
