    Another miss!

What is going on with Owen Farrell? That's nine points down the pan. Time to give George Ford a go? Henry Slade? Elliot Daly? There are a few options on the field for England.

Kick, kick, kick. The two sides return to a familiar pattern.

France eventually try to carry the ball but Maro Itoje wins a turnover at the breakdown. And the turnover swiftly becomes a penalty after a high tackle by Guillaume Ducat on Ben Early.

Another familiar sight: Owen Farrell tees up for a kick.

There is a lot of clamour in France about Sekou Macalou - he is a brilliant man to call on.

Matthieu Jalibert and Brice Dulin have been so impressive today.

Ben Youngs kicks up the ball and there is no shortage of England chasers. But Dulin, the most experienced French player on the field, coolly collects and kicks the ball back.

An England kick goes out on the full and France have a chance to attack inside the hosts' half.

It might be the biggest cheer of the afternoon as England opt to kick that penalty into the corner rather than at the posts...

There is that dominance over time. 50 minutes, there just seems to be less of a spring in the French step.

Everything seems to go England's way as they launch a speedy attack off the scrum.

Anthony Watson has a bit of space on the right wing, but he is brought down by Brice Dulin and his offload goes nowhere.

Eddie Jones does not look at all pleased.

England were playing with an advantage, so at least get another chance at three points.

    Welcome to international rugby.

Centre Yoram Moefana, playing his second game for France, is slammed to the ground by Billy Vunipola running at full pace.

The Frenchman is up and walking again but he will not forget that one.

Fascinating to have known what went on in that half-time, certainly Eddie Jones seems to have got a message to that England team. They are functioning much more like the team we've known over the last month.

That one wakes the crowd up a bit.

Owen Farrell takes a bit of time to prepare, then slams the ball between the posts.

England get something to show for all their possession since the break.

Sometimes crowds say as much with their silence as their cheers.

The 2,000 fans in Twickenham are not making much noise and it is concern that this match is going off script.

And the very least we are heading for a cliffhanger ending...

England try to string together an attack and the crowd volume cranks up. If you've ever been to a swimming match, it's a very similar acoustic. Very echoey.

The attack comes to nothing anyway as Elliot Daly's kick goes into touch.

We come back for a penalty and Owen Farrell will go for goal.

Jonny May has a go on the counter-attack but he can't recreate any of the magic that saw him score a sublime solo try against Ireland.

George Ford heads for the skies instead but Matthieu Jalibert is on the end of it instead of Anthony Watson. Brice Dulin clears his lines.

Eddie Jones is feeling the heat. Time for an early change.

Ben Earl comes on for Sam Underhill in the back row and Jonny Hill comes on for Joe Launchbury at lock.

If ever there was a time to make a name for yourself, it's seven points down in a final at Twickenham.

Andy Pearce: England’s inability to play heads up rugby cost them several times at the end of that half. They were also far too slow to recycle the ball which allowed the French ‘D’ to reorganise between phases. Not impressed with this new style England so far.

Johnny: It saddens me to say this as a proud Welshman but what a performance from the French defence expertly coached by Shaun Edwards and what a loss to Wales.
