England's maul doesn't make much process and they have a go with their backs instead.

Anthony Watson flies forward and gets to within 10m.

Elliot Daly makes a bit of headway and England are 5m away.

Owen Farrell changes things up again and goes cross-field to Anthony Watson who sprints, jumps and... knocks the ball on.

If anything, this is the real test of England now. They have had everything pretty much their own way in this tournament, the question was always going to be when a team matched them physically, were they able to adapt?

There have been a few complaints about England's style of play in this tournament.

It certainly doesn't seem to be working against France so far.

Are they on the right track? Or is it time for change?

France deserve to have a spring in their step - it hasn't just been their reputation of flair, passion and finesse going forward. That last five minutes, I can't recall England spending so much time in the opposition 22 and not coming away with the points.

France have talent and depth within their player base, it is inexperience within their caps but they have the potential, the set-piece to compete. The way England have joined in with this jolly, France are more akin to playing this sort of rugby.

England have run themselves a little bit ragged. It looks a little bit foreign to England compared to the last three weeks the way they have played.

According to the Autumn Nations Cup website, England have spent 4m 05s in France's 22.

They only have six points to show for it. Heroic is the only word for France's defence.

I am still confident England have enough to win this, when it comes to the bench, but nine out of 10 times world champion sides score there.

    Blimey.

England are penalised at the scrum and France kick to touch.

Who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall for Eddie Jones' half-time team talk?

England should have scored, they had opportunities to shift the ball. Jamie George in acres of space, but the ball doesn't come out. Impressive from France, no doubt about it.

    This is proper sport.

England went through 12 phases within two metres of the line. The hosts' forwards are far more experienced than their opponents.

But France have come to win a trophy and they were not letting England over the line. Unfortunately, Dorian Aldegheri was lost in that heroic effort - he hobbles off the pitch.

Do not underestimate how huge that was. Right on the money, inch by inch - the French defence was heroic under there.

Neill: It pains me to say this as a big English fan but I almost want England to lose this then maybe EJ will change his game plan he is turning me off the game France showing how the game should be played.

Chris, New Zealander living in Bristol: England players have all their creativity and intuition coached out of them in this country. The French are showing creativity and playing without fear, whereas England have 15 pre programmed robots.

England are still under a metre away but France's defence is ferocious.

Ellis Genge twists and turns as he forces his way across but he loses the ball forwards.

Technically, this is a France B team but it does not look like one at all.

England could do with closing that gap before half-time. Either way, there will surely be some pretty stern words from Eddie Jones in the dressing room.

They were overwhelming favourites going into this match but they are having a hard time against a fired up French side.
