  2. 'Alun Wyn Jones is the ultimate competitor'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    Wales v England (16:45 GMT)

    Rhys Patchell
Wales fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

He will be trying to win, more than anything! He is one of the most competitive people you will ever meet. It doesn’t matter when it is, Alun Wyn wants to win.

He will be trying to exploit something, whether it is holding someone in the ruck, trying to mess the lineout up, whatever it is. He is an unbelievable competitor, and when he has you on the rack he lets you know.

  3. 'Make or break' - England's Jonespublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    Wales v England (16:45 GMT)

England head coach Eddie Jones said on BBC One:

"It's a big game. We understand it's a make or break game for both teams.

"We've had a good preparation and we're ready to go.

"Even the best players in the world can sometimes have a few off games - they'll be ready to go today.

"They will be motivated as we will be so I don't think that [the Triple Crown] adds anything extra to the game."

  4. 'Mind games from Jones could backfire'published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    Wales v England (16:45 GMT)

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Eddie is playing a dangerous game. Alun Wyn is such an inspiration to the team and the nation. It makes me edgy – I come from a background of keeping your counsel, don’t give them a reason to be overly motivated. Eddie has a habit of being vocal, stirring it up – maybe he feels it is to his team’s benefit.

It is more directed at the officials; it was obvious a couple of years ago when Alun Wyn Jones got into Kyle Sinckler, giving him verbals and winding him up – which I loved. Eddie might feel that is a weakness in the side, and he is crying out for help from the officials.

  5. 'I get why players can't rise to the occasion'published at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    Wales v England (16:45 GMT)

    Jeremy Guscott
Former England centre on BBC One

When you lead your team out normally, it is a moment you look forward to - that roar.

That is the energy and emotion as a player you feed off. If you haven't got that, it's really hard. I'm not going to feel overly sorry for them but I do not get how they cannot always rise to the occasion.

It wouldn't be Wales against England without Eddie Jones indulging in a little pre-match kidology.

The England head coach just can't help himself, particularly when it comes to this fixture, and on this occasion Jones has warned his players to be wary of Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones.

Prop Kyle Sinckler was brought off early after coming under pressure from Jones and his team-mates as England lost 21-13 in Cardiff in 2019.

"At times he [Jones] has targeted players in our team," said Eddie Jones.

"We've spoken about him and we understand what he'll be trying to do."

  8. 'Wales will fancy themselves,' says Vunipolapublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

Wales might be targeting a Triple Crown but plenty still think England start as favourites today.

Eddie Jones' men were victorious when the teams last met in November and, as reigning champions, they won't let go of their Six Naitons crown lightly.

But even without a hostile Welsh crowd at an empty Principality Stadium, England number eight Billy Vunipola reckons Wales will be backing themselves to win.

"Everyone says it is Cardiff with no crowds," he says. "It is still a very experienced Welsh team who are doing really well at the moment.

"They are going to fancy themselves and so they should. We know how important this weekend is to keep our campaign on track."

  9. Owens ready for 'full-blooded Test match'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2021

    Ken Owens
Wales hooker on BBC Radio 5 Live

We've always had an inner-belief, there's always been a plan.

The Autumn Nations Cup served a purpose to develop players and have a look at a couple of different things.

We haven't been perfect by a long stretch but we've found a way to win, we've found resilience and played good rugby in patches.

We're going to have to go up another level against England.

It's going to be a full-blooded Test match.

BBC Sport Wales' Gareth Griffiths and James Pontin have been speaking to North's former team-mates, coaches and opponents for this in-depth feature about Welsh rugby's history maker.

    Rhys Patchell
Wales fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live sports extra

Looking at the context of England’s tournament, a second loss in three games and the pressure is on Eddie Jones. They would still have to play France, who are in a bit of chaos. Eddie will be feeling the heat if it doesn’t go his way.

    Hello and welcome!

Ireland and Italy kicked off the weekend's Six Nations action earlier, and now it's time for the main event: Wales v England.

How times have changed. When these sides met just three months ago, they were worlds apart.

England triumphed in their Autumn Nations Cup meeting in Llanelli, consigning Wales to a seventh defeat from nine matches.

But so far in this year's Six Nations, Wales have turned their fortunes around with two wins from two against Ireland and Scotland.

After a dismal 2020, Wayne Pivac's men now find themselves one victory away from clinching the Triple Crown in Cardiff.

Standing in their way are an England side with one loss and one win so far.

So who will prevail in the latest instalment of this grand old rivalry? We'll soon find out...
