Try - Ireland 26-11 Englandpublished at 66 mins

    Ben Youngs

England immediately take advantage of their extra man.

Jamie George peels off a maul and Ben Youngs is quick to react. The scrum-half darts round the corner and over the line.

Elliot Daly takes on kicking duties in Owen Farrell's continued absence for a head injury assessment. Daly doesn't have his captain's boot and misses the opportunity for two much-needed points.

Referee Mathieu Raynal says there is contact between Bundee Aki's shoulder and Billy Vunipola's head, with "no mitigation".

Aki walks from the pitch shaking his head.

Billy Vunipola lies flat on the floor after some contact with Bundee Aki and players gather round him in concern.

He is quickly up on his hands and knees, but that looked nasty.

Some questioned Ireland head coach Andy Farrell's future after an opening loss to Wales.

They may be eating their words now that his side have a 20-point lead over World Cup finalists England.

England should be chasing the game, but they seem to be pedestrian about it.

Another three points for Johnny Sexton and more brownie points to add to his already giant Lions haul.

England defence coach John Mitchell said it would be a "war" at the breakdown.

So far, Ireland are winning it.

And second row Tadhg Beirne is impressing.

He has won three turnovers, more than anyone else on the pitch. Is that a skillset that could be crucial against the Boks?

Tadhg Furlong explodes in delight as Ireland win a penalty at the scrum.

Johnny Sexton will look to add another three points. Surely this is too much for England to turn around with their captain off the field.

Gandybob: England are not “out of sorts” - this is typical of the way we’ve played over the last year. Boring, stupid and frustrating

Theo: Eddie Jones comments about each game taking a different approach is just an excuse to not have a distinctive style which means we impose ourselves on the opposition... we are standing still as a team now

Luckily for England, the scrum needs to be reset. But if Owen Farrell doesn't pass this head injury assessment, who knows how they will fare without a recognised fly-half.

Ben Earl gets a turnover and gives England a bit of time to collect themselves with a scrum.

In the backline, England have centres Ollie Lawrence and Joe Marchant and two scrum-halves in Ben Youngs and Dan Robson. Youngs deals with the scrum, with Robson on the right and Elliot Daly on the left.

This is the last thing they need at 17 points down with just over 20 minutes to go.

  13. Farrell off for head injury assessmentpublished at 57 mins

    Ireland 23-6 England

England were having a go at a counter-attack but they've undone themselves again.

Ollie Lawrence is caught crossing in front of Elliot Daly and Ireland get yet another penalty.

Owen Farrell fell to the floor after an earlier tackle on Iain Henderson and must go off for a head injury assessment. Dan Robson comes on in his place. Not entirely sure who will be playing fly-half now.

Owen Farrell sends a flat pass to newcomer Joe Marchant and he gets within touching distance of the Irish 22.

Anthony Watson and Jonny May are briefly allowed inside, but then repelled backwards.

Ireland win the turnover and Conor Murray box-kicks them out of danger.

England win a penalty at the breakdown and Daly kicks to touch just outside Ireland's 22.

Big call from Eddie Jones as experienced fly-half George Ford goes off and Joe Marchant comes on for his Six Nations debut. Presumably that means Owen Farrell is playing at 10 now.

Forward Ben Earl is also on.
