Patient play through the phases for Wales as the wind begins to really swirl and the rain is blowing sideways in Grenoble.

Wales are rewarded for their perseverance as Georgia Evans touches down much to the displeasure of the home fans.

The boos can be heard in all corners but it is Wales on the board and something to build from in this game.

What I absolutely love about this French side is that they are still arguing whether that was a try, considering they are 30 point up!

    Georgia Evans, con Elinsor Snowsill

    At last - they're over.

The French aren't happy but the referee says she's over.

That was reward for sheer persistence. Sioned Harries looked to have crossed but Evans follows up to touch down.

The wind is so strong that Snowsill needs a teammate to hold the ball as she kicks the conversion.

Another lineout strays but Wales are knocking on the door here.

This ball is not going out from the forwards.

That's been the difference between the two teams, just the ability to get the ball out wide early enough for these players to do what they do so well.

Ooh there was an opening then for Wales.

France dropped the ball deep inside their own half.

Fly-half Elinor Snowsill picks up but the support wasn't there in time and Wales are penalised for holding on.

    Charlotte Escudero

Well that's just a brilliant team try.

France run it from close to their own line and it ends with the flanker touching down with ease.

Melissande Llorens scampered away down the left. Cyrielle Banet makes easy ground past Snowsill on the right after Gaelle Hermet palmed down a pass into her path.

You just have to take your hat off to them.

However most hats have blown off in this wind!

It just feels like Wales are playing with a lack of belief.

It was a shaky start, we talked about the environment, the girls themselves said that it's one of the most intimidating places to go but you would've hoped that they prepared for that.

  19. Six Nations 'cannot continue' in this guisepublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    HT: France 29-0 Wales

The Women's Six Nations cannot "continue in the guise it is" with England and France so far ahead, says Red Roses head coach Simon Middleton.

Middleton added the rapid growth of women's rugby in recent years "could mask some of the issues" in the sport.

England have won their four 2023 Six Nations games so far by at least 45 points.

"We have to close this gap," Middleton told BBC Sport's Sara Orchard.

England and France have dominated the Women's Six Nations since Ireland last took the title in 2015.

The Red Roses have won the last four editions, with France victorious in 2016 and 2018, either side of another England win.

Middleton's side have continued to pull away since becoming professional in 2019 and had won 30 Tests in a row by the end of 2022.
