Big players have been missing from England's side in recent months.

It is obvious to see George Ford played the game with his life and technically was spot on.

These are the moments when it is not about 'razzle dazzle'.

George Ford is the fly-half with brains and the ability to execute in a game. They [England coaches] are never ever going to admit that Ford gets ever so shackled playing with Owen Farrell, but my view is he needs to be running the team and he needs to be the main man as he has the ability to do it.

Whether it was before the game it looked like he said 'I am in charge leave it to me'.

England are up and running with a spirited win over Argentina.

Surely that is a big step towards the quarter-finals.

Those six penalties, and three drop goals, means George Ford's 27 points haul is his greatest return for England.

Even if the suspended Owen Farrell was available for the next game, could England drop George Ford after that display?

We don't want to get too carried away as the game between France and the All Blacks last night was levels above this. But they will be pleased with the fight and winning areas we haven't won in previous games. Argentina though have been really poor tonight.

Into the final 10 minutes and England look set to open their World Cup campaign with a victory.

They have been utterly clinical and the 15 men of Argentina have barely laid a glove.

This is the most organised decisive England side we have seen in recent months.

Was that a smile Mr Borthwick?

The England head coach, known for his steely, no-nonsense demeanour, unknowingly gives the camera a smirk as George Ford stretches their lead to 21 points.

Great to see. His side have been dominant.

Just good decision making, this is a very different England side.

I know Ford has kicked them goals, but the decisions made given the conditions and the pressure they are under.

The poor summer series they had, the momentum shift. The confidence shift from this game is huge!

England have been clinical. Nearly every decision in their favour has been followed by three extra points.

Courtney Lawes makes his way off the field to a standing ovation.

The England captain, on his 101th Test appearance, has been a colossus. He is replaced by Lewis Ludlam.

England can do no wrong it seems. Another penalty goes in their favour at the scrum and George Ford gets his hands on the ball again.
