The live texter's curse?

George Ford pops his kick straight into touch to concede the line-out but it doesn't matter as Maro Itoje's big paw pushes the ball back on England's side.

The cards have been stacked against England from the second minute but they are showing just how resilient they are.

Impressive.

England are in control of this game. They are wringing the neck of the Pumas at the moment.

And another one is driven through the middle of the posts.

George Ford's boot has been faultless from both hand and tee this evening.

The lead grows by another three.

Wallop.

Manu Tuilagi has just decided to put an abrupt halt to Santiago Chocobares' brief moment in possession.

The centre is folded in half and it sets the tone for England, who go on to win the penalty after Maro Itoje's intervention at the breakdown.

The reason he got the nod?

England palm back the line-out, which is gathered by Alex Mitchell, who beats his man and sets off down the wing.

He manages to free his arms and pop the ball off but it's just in front of Elliot Daly and the chance disappears.

That speed of thought and quick burst was excellent though.

Was it ever in doubt?

The wheels continue to turn and George Ford makes no mistake to stretch England's lead to 12 points.

You might think you can get a rush up and make a positive tackle it was not the time for Pablo Matera to run up. Easy penalty for the referee to give under the sticks.

Argentina are offside in the defensive line and England get the decision in kickable range.

George Ford points to the posts. This should be straightforward for a man of his ability.

Tom Curry looks dejected on the bench after being sent off early in the game for a head-on-head tackle.

But he's still there watching and supporting his team-mates.

Manu Tuilagi has joined the England scrum in Tom Curry's absence.

It means Joe Marchant is being used as a crash runner in midfield. I wouldn't say that is necessarily his strength but needs must, as they say.

George Ford gets the 14-men of England going again in Marseille...

Argentina are making their way back to the field. I wonder what Michael Cheika has said to his charges in the dressing room?

Presumably something about stopping George Ford's drop-goals...

I think Ford has taken ownership of the game and his team. He has been guiding his team, those drop goals are just extra as he has done so much more than that.

I think the red card was better for England than Argentina, they have to be nervous.

I think there was too many handling errors and Argentina were not good, but thank god we have 40 more minutes.

We're only halfway through, of course, but this is the best England have played for some time.

They came into this World Cup on a run of one win in six matches. Victory tonight will put them in pole position to top the pool for the fifth time in World Cup history.

Not so much to cheer for the Argentina fans in the first half...
