TMO is having a busy few moments as Gareth Davies is on the end of a high tackle by Selesitino Ravutaumada.

The Wales scrum-half was falling though and it's just a penalty and a stern warning from Matthew Carley.

There's still more nerves for Wales as Ryan Elias' tackle is checked - was it legal, could it be a penalty try? Nope, it's ok.

Chants of Fiji are drowning out Wales fans around the ground.

    They sense blood here.

  6. Disallowed try - Eroni Mawipublished at 35 mins

    Wales 18 -14 Fiji

Fiji look to go over under the posts but Eroni Mawi could have lost it forward in the tackle. TMO having a check.

It's really tight and there's a lot of repeat slo-mos. It's a knock-on by the slightest of margins and Wales survive.

Fiji go for their own attacking line-out and driving maul. Wales are stretched but the Fijians are seven metres out.

    Wales 18 -14 Fiji

Ooph! Wales loose-head Gareth Thomas gets absolutely smashed in the tackle by I think Fiji scrum-half Frank Lomani. Proper linebacker hit that one.

A small moment of pause as Thomas gets some attention by the medics but he's fine to continue.

    Emyr Lewis
Former Wales flanker on BBC Radio Cymru

Brilliant pass from Nick Tompkins. He drew two men towards him, got destroyed in the tackle but he'd already got the ball to George North.

Superb angle from North, side-stepping easily in the end and under the posts.

The team in the lead is going to keep changing in this game.

Former Wales fly-half on BBC Radio Wales

That's a misread in defence from Fiji and a lovely line by George North, Wales so far when they get in to the 22 they actually look quite composed.

The forwards do the hard work and then it's over to the backs as Nick Tompkins puts centre partner George North under the posts, giving Dan Biggar the easiest of conversions. What a game.

Wales roll infield from the attacking line-out but are held out, but another penalty is theirs. Kick for touch and another driving maul from the line-out.

    Wales 11-14 Fiji

There was a no-arm tackle on Dan Biggar in that move. No yellow card but a penalty to Wales and they kick for touch and an attacking line-out.

    Josh Navidi

Fiji are ready to go as soon as that ball gets split from Wales they flick a switch and are ready to go, they are ready for the counter attack and get back in to the loose game that they love playing.

    Wales 11-14 Fiji

Wales stretch Fiji and work the space on the right, surely Louis Rees-Zammit is away! No! Liam Williams' pass is just behind the speedster and the ball goes into touch.

  16. Penaltypublished at 23 mins

    Wales 11-14 Fiji

Fiji go offside and Dan Biggar has a kick in front of the posts a little into the Fiji half that he sends crisply through. Wales needed that.

  17. Wales are 'stunned'published at 20:28 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Wales 8-14 Fiji

    Nicky Robinson
Former Wales and Cardiff fly-half on BBC Radio Cymru

Wales really needed this break in play because I'm really worried with what I've seen.

In the first five minutes Wales were almost perfect but since then it's gone downhill.

It's like they are rabbits in the headlights, stunned, everything they'd have feared Fiji would have done, they've done to Wales.

It is frantic at the moment, Wales look indecisive. We need to settle things down.

Back under way in Bordeaux and time for the forwards to show their mettle with a series of reset scrums.

Wales' put-in and it looks solid, spreading the ball to the left.

  20. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Wales 8-14 Fiji

That first 20 minutes has disappeared in double-quick time and it's time for a water break. This could be timely for Wales who were starting to creak there. A chance to regroup as well as gulp down some H2O.
