    England 45-0 Chile

Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Billy Vunipola needs to step up his game, he has huge competition at the minute as Ben Earl is playing out of his skin at the moment.

it is not what we saw of Vunipola four years ago, it just feels a bit lackadaisical at the minute.

  2. Postpublished at 59 mins

    England 45-0 Chile

With so many changes and the result gone beyond a doubt the match has understandably gone a bit scrappy now. Just don't get injured or sent-off, that must be the overriding aim from here on in.

  3. Postpublished at 56 mins

    England 45-0 Chile

Good work at the breakdown from England to win the ball back, Marcus Smith then puts it in behind Chile again and Owen Farrell is close to meeting the kick but it's wrapped up.

No hat-trick for hooker Theo Dan as he comes off, there's plenty of subs coming on in fact including podcaster and heading specialist Joe Marler.

Matt: What a bunch of whining from the England online supporters! We will be three from three, they're throwing the ball around, scoring tries, won with 14 men, have a revitalized George Ford and are learning how to win. Yet you still want to complain.

  6. Postpublished at 55 mins

    England 45-0 Chile

Chile have prop Matias Dittus back from the bin so we're back to 15 v 15.

  7. Postpublished at 53 mins

    England 45-0 Chile

Well done Marcus Smith, he's tested under a crossfield bomb kick but gathers it well despite not being the tallest. Chile having a good little spell though.

  8. Postpublished at 52 mins

    England 45-0 Chile

England put 111 points on Uruguay back in the day so I think a World Cup record is probably safe. Owen Farrell is at centre now with George Ford at 10.

    England 45-0 Chile

    Matt Dawson

That is the way to play the kicking game, on the front foot and that is the time to use it - as an attacking weapon.

England send on Ben Youngs and George Ford. How many playmakers can you have on the pitch at once?

  11. try

Try - England 45-0 Chilepublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

Henry Arundell HAT-TRICK (con Owen Farrell)

Chile con CARNAGE. Henry Arundell has his hat-trick as England pull Chile from side to side. Marcus Smith kicks the ball through, it isn't gathered cleanly and Henry Arundell is able to pick up the pieces to score his third of the day.

    Owen Farrell adds the conversion.

    England 38-0 Chile

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Not a lot Chile can do about that when they have seven forwards on the field, a good throw to the middle and they found the soft spot inwards towards the posts.

Daniel (17.32) has got that wrong. If anything Smith is proving he's a better 15 for this England team than he is a 10. Would you start him at 10 in a match against South Africa? No. Would you start him at 15? Certainly looking like a decent option.

A scruffy start to the second half for Chile then. At what point shall I start looking up England's biggest World Cup wins?

  15. converted try

Converted try - England 38-0 Chilepublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Theo Dan (con Owen Farrell)

Chile are a man down at the line-out and they have no answer to the England pack, a huge push for the line and Theo Dan goes down for another try. He's on a hat-trick now as well!

  16. Sin-binpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    England 31-0 Chile

Not something you see too often as Billy Vunipola is bundled off the ball but there's a penalty to England - and Chile prop Matias Dittus is shown a yellow card. So Chile have 14 men for 10 minutes...

  17. Postpublished at 44 mins

    England 31-0 Chile

Chile lost the second half to Samoa by 24 points apparently so this could be a test for them. England now have a penalty and kick for the corner.

Chile made a change at the break actually, Ignacio Silva was replaced by Raimundo Martinez. Chile win a penalty from an early scrum.
