They finally got that edge. It's a brilliant kick from Ollie Smith, he weighted that perfectly.

There's a glimmer of what they can do.

    Daniel Bibi Biziwu

A no-arms tackle from Hamish Watson allows Clermont onto Edinburgh's 5m line. It's his last involvement, with Connor Boyle on. Bill Mata is off, with Glen Young on. Charlie Shiel also replaces Ben Vellacott.

Clermont win another penalty as Jamie Hodgson collapses the maul. It feels like a matter of time before the fourth Clermont score. The Stade Marcel-Michelin is chanting loudly.

The maul is only going one way and young prop Biziwu drives over. Clermont have their tails up, as Belleau knocks over another conversion.

Converted try GLASGOW 12-28 Northamptonpublished at 69 mins

    Ollie Smith

It's almost certainly too little, too late for Glasgow, but this is a great try.

The hosts run it from deep, Ross Thompson releases Ollie Smith down the left, and the Scotland cap chips over the top.

He just about has the legs on his namesake Fin, and dots down in the corner.

Thompson adds the extras from out wide.

    Steady on, Peter.

I watched Glasgow lose 76-14 to Leinster under Danny Wilson - that was far worse than this.

    It has been dreadful mind.

Converted try CLERMONT 24-13 Edinburghpublished at 61 mins

    Alex Newsome

That didn't last long. A sublime bit of handling from the entire Clermont back line puts Newsome into the corner. It's simple hands but the timing and weight of every pass in inch perfect.

That comes from a knock on from the kick off. A poor Edinburgh restart that has allowed Clermont to stretch their lead. This is the toughest kick of Anthony Belleau's night and he nails it.

I've never seen a Glasgow team as poor as this. This is as poor as I've seen them in two seasons.

    Cammy Scott

Edinburgh win a penalty for a high tackle on the Clermont 10m line. With Tim Swiel off, Cammy Scott lines it up. It's from distance... and it's good! Edinburgh are very much back in this.

Meanwhile, Clermont empty the bench. Yohan Beheregaray, Daniel Bibi Biziwu, Henzo Kiteau, Fritz Lee, Killian Tixeront, Baptiste Jauneau, Jules Plisson, and Pierre Fouyssac come on.

Ollie Smith gets absolutely smashed in the tackle, before a hge counter-ruck wins the Saints a penalty.

Huge smiles on Northampton faces - they are bullying Glasgow.

    Fin Smith

Another penalty sails through the posts, and Northampton are surely out of sight now.

A sobering night for Glasgow in the pouring rain.

    Clermont 17-10 Edinburgh

Edinburgh win their first penalty from the scrum, but Tim Swiel's kick doesn't find touch. There's just too many mistakes in this Edinburgh performance.

Play goes on and Swiel slips into a tackle from Peceli Yato and the Fijian's shoulder crunches into Swiel's jaw. However, there's no foul play as it's an 'accidental rugby collision'. Swiel is off for an HIA.

Ben Vellacott is also claiming that Yato has punched Luke Crosbie off the ball. Referee Ben Whitehouse isn't interested.

    Chris Paterson
    Former Scotland international on Viaplay

Nobody has got a hold of this game in the second-half. It's fluctuated between both sides being on top but making mistakes at the same time.

It needs someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck, it's very much up for grabs.

    Glasgow 5-25 Northampton

Ben Afshar knocks-on at the back of a Glasgow scrum.

It looked like a Glasgow penalty to me, but Luc Ramos disagrees.

The Scotstoun crowd boo, probably out of frustration more than anything else.

One of the strengths for Glasgow is their home crowd. But the crowd can only get involved if they have something to go off.

    Glasgow 5-25 Northampton

Glasgow cannot find anything with ball in hand.

After several carries fail to make any ground, Stafford McDowall boots the ball to touch.

They are being beaten up by this Northampton pack.

It's a big gamble when you go 6/2 on the bench. You've only got Ben Afshar and Ross Thompson as backs on the bench. Huw Jones hasn't played for weeks so there might need to be a reshuffle.

    Clermont 17-10 Edinburgh

Edinburgh clear their lines and force a penalty just outside Clermont's 22m. It looked like Ben Vellacott's box-kick was too long but this time Duhan van der Merwe's kick-chase is superb and wins the pen.

It's knocked onto Clermont's 5m line but the throw is stolen by chief thief Rob Simmons. Clermont try to play it out from behind their own line, but Edinburgh swarm them and win the 5m scrum.

Hang on... Simmons was taken out in the air. Penalty reversed.

    Clermont 17-10 Edinburgh

Clermont are hitting back strongly, and they're deep in Edinburgh's camp again. They're inches away from the line... but somehow Edinburgh survive!

It's a huge hit on Thomas Lavanini that causes the ball to be dislodged and then a Clermont player tries to play the ball on the floor.

    Clermont 17-10 Edinburgh

Edinburgh are putting Clermont under pressure now. The ball is put into the sky by Cammy Scott and Harry Paterson forces the knock on from Anthony Belleau.

Young Paterson is absolutely tremendous in the kick chase. He absolutely flies into the contact and has sent a few Clermont bodies flying backwards.

But Javan Sebastian goes down in the scrum again and Clermont get the penalty. Pressure off, as Edinburgh swap their entire front row.
