    Martin Woods

Inverness couldn't patch Josh Meekings back up in time and it has proved significant as County take advantage of their numerical advantage to stretch their lead.

Alex Schalk plays a clever reverse pass as Martin Woods races into the space you would expect Meekings to be covering and confidently fires across Owain Fon Williams and into the bottom corner.

    Ross County 2-1 Inverness CT

Josh Meekings takes a sore one and blood starts to gush from above his eye.

He's forced on to the sidelines and looks like boxer between rounds as he is patched up in an effort to get him back into the action.

  5. Warburton rues missed chancespublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    FT: Rangers 1-2 Celtic

Rangers manager Mark Warburton was disappointed that his side's unbeaten home record in 2016 was ended on the last day of the year by rivals Celtic.

The Ibrox boss felt that his side's inability to take their chances is what cost them the match.

"We've lost our record at home which is very disappointing," Warburton told Press Association.

"We've had some very good chances. It's about the fine margins and taking your chances when they come along."

    FT: Rangers 1-2 Celtic

In the early kick-off Celtic ended the year on a high with a 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox.

Kenny Miller gave Rangers a first-half lead before Moussa Dembele levelled before the break and Scott Sinclair struck the winner 20 minutes from time.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his side's display.

"I thought we thoroughly deserved it," he told Press Association.

"We needed to adjust one or two things at half time but I thought in the second half we were brilliant.

"We looked a real threat every time we went forward. I'm disappointed probably just to have two goals."

  13. Ding-dong derby in Dingwallpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Ross County 2-1 Inverness CT

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland in Dingwall

This is evolving into a fabulous derby but County should have netted a third.

Unusually Liam Boyce lacked composure when Schalk's cross came across when he may have had time to take a touch.

Inverness had done so well to get back on level terms but have fallen down the mountain again.

  14. Coulibaly frustratedpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Kilmarnock

Souleymane Coulibaly is furious with himself after glancing a header just wide of the Partick goal. It's not been his day today in front of goal.

  15. Boyce blows hat-trick chancepublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Ross County 2-1 Inverness CT

Liam Boyce bagged a hat-trick in the last Highlands derby and he really should have claimed another here.

The striker pounces on some dreadful defending and looks set to burst the net but his finish with the outside of the boot from 10 yards out slips wide of the post.

It's still anyone's game at Firhill. Thistle have enjoyed the better of the play, without being able to make that count, while Kilmarnock have looked dangerous on occasion, with Souleymane Coulibaly as usual providing their greatest threat. A point for Killie would be a better one than it would for Thistle.

    Liam Boyce

County regain the lead and it's their talisman Liam Boyce yet again.

The Northern Irishman shoots from a very tight angle and Owain Fon Williams is caught out as the ball flies into the net.

It's hard to tell if Boyce was attempting a cross or a shot but either way he has his 13th league goal of the season and the home side are back in front.
