Good evening and welcome to our coverage of the concluding session of the 2020 World Championship final.

Well what to say about tonight....

Ronnie O'Sullivan reeled off seven frames in succession earlier to move to the brink of joining Steve Davis and Ray Reardon as a six-time world champion at the Crucible.

This one can only end one way surely.

Right it is time for me to depart for now.

I'll be back at 19:15 for what surely is now likely to be Ronnie O'Sullivan's coronation as champion.

He put his foot down on the pedal this afternoon didn't he winning the last seven frames.

My colleague Shamoon Hafez has got all the details around that in his report., external

So have a read of that and I'll see you all for Sunday evening's concluding session at around 19:15 BST.

    O'Sullivan 17-8 Wilson

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

It's been a fantastic tournament. The TV coverage has been brilliant.

For people around the world when there hasn't been much sport on it has been a breath of fresh air.

It was touch and go as to whether the tournament would be able to take place. Once they got the green light they did such a great job.

It's great that snooker was one of the first sports back.

  8. 'Ronnie deserves a sixth title'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    O'Sullivan 17-8 Wilson

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Kyren is going to come out this evening and basically just wait to be beaten.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is going to be feeling wonderful. He now needs to put his dress suit on one more time to walk out to be crowned King of the Crucible.

Six world titles are what I think he deserves and he's got a chance for seven.

Usman: Absolute masterclass from Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Paul: Love him or hate him there is no getting away from the fact that Ronnie O'sulivan is the most gifted snooker player of all time.

Frankie: Feel a bit for Kyren Wilson after that session. After the first frame you’d have thought it would have been much closer session. I can’t see more than one frame being played this evening unless he mounts one heck of a comeback.

    O'Sullivan 17-8 Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

I'm going to hark back to the two frames that Kyren missed that I think were massively important

Since then Ronnie has just got stronger and Kyren has just got a little bit worse.

Last night O'Sullivan looked like he was gone, he looked a bit shattered but he's turned it around.

    It was a deserved scoreline.

There was a glimmer of hope for Kyren.

    That has evaporated.

  12. Ronnie on the verge of victorypublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    O'Sullivan 17-8 Wilson

Kyren Wilson can't feather a black into the bottom left corner and with it goes his chance of rescuing the frame.

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won the session 7-1 and is one frame away from becoming a six-time champion.

    Frame 25: O'Sullivan 16-8 Wilson

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Kyren has been schooled a bit in this final by someone who is a much better player than most in the game.

Today has been a very solid performance from Ronnie.

    Frame 25: O'Sullivan 16-8 Wilson

Terrific long pot from Ronnie O'Sullivan to get going again.

Absolutely no pressure on him here and he knocks in another 31 before missing a routine black off the spot.

Glimmer of hope for Kyren? 61 behind 67 on the table.

    Frame 25: O'Sullivan 16-8 Wilson

    Kyren WilsonImage source, WST/Benjamin Mole

A big cheer went up for Kyren Wilson at the start of this final frame of the session...

It quickly turned to a big gasp as a long red rattled in the bottom left pocket jaws.

    That looked in.

Ronnie O'Sullivan can only score 29 this time though. Kyren will get another go. He badly needs this frame after losing six on the spin.

  16. 'It's a massive occasion and he's just not had his best stuff'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Frame 25: O'Sullivan 16-8 Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

We need to go back to the two frames that Kyren missed opportunities to make clearances. That's what has changed the match.

If he gets one of them he could have been in. The fact he lost both of them, Ronnie sensed you're not going to punish me if I miss and kicked on from there.

He's playing in the biggest match of his life, it's a massive occasion and he's just not had his best stuff.

  17. O'Sullivan eight clearpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Frame 24: O'Sullivan 16-8 Wilson

Kyren Wilson looks befuddled at the moment. He asked referee Marcel Eckardt if it was the end of the session after that frame.

What he'd give for a break of 71 like Ronnie O'Sullivan's just now.

  18. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Frame 24: O'Sullivan 15-8 Wilson

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

He'll be disappointed, he's just not performed. Kyren could do with a tape of this to watch it all back to see the mistakes that he's made.

  19. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Frame 24: O'Sullivan 15-8 Wilson

This must be so demoralising for Kyren Wilson.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is now clinically capitalising on his last mistake. He's up to 65 already. Another frame that has disappeared from Kyren Wilson's grasp.

  20. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Frame 24: O'Sullivan 15-8 Wilson

    S.U.P.E.R.B.

That was a horrible one but Kyren Wilson drops a sumptuous red in the bottom corner from a tight angle down the right side of the table.

But it's the same old story, it doesn't translate into a meaningful chance with his break ending on 14.

No problem with his cueing though and not a trace of any nerves as he plays another great pot to the left middle before inexplicably missing the yellow with the rest.
