Dmitry Tursunov had better swap details with Roger Federer because this set is surely a write-off.

Federer breaks again and will serve for the third next.

Novak Djokovic had two points whittled off his serve, but kept on trucking to keep it even in the third.

"Boris Becker is prowling the stands like he once prowled the baseline, looking threatening, as his man labours a little down on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Across the way, Goran Ivanisevic looks as fidgety and restless as in his glory days. If the coaches are on edge, their charges are having to work hard on a warm afternoon. Djokovic recovers a break in the third set but the sweat is glistening on his brow and he will be keen to put Cilic away swiftly from here."

Roger Federer is not a cruel man. Anyone who goes for the alliterative Leo and Lenny as names for their twins must have a cheery streak. But the world number four is not having any mercy on Dmitry Turnsunov, making him scamper for every ball.

Tursunov just about manages to battle through the barrage of drop-shots to a hold, but he is still a break adrift in the third.

Noavk Djokovic bites straight back against Marin Cilic. The Serb breaks and holds to level things up and keep himself in with a shout of a straight-sets victory.

Meanwhile on Philippe Chatrier, Dmitry Tursunov has headed back stage to get some treatment on a niggly thigh injury.

Roger Federer is getting a little antsy. The Swiss prowls around the baseline, giving the umpire pointed looks while he waits for Tursunov to reappear and face serve.

Finally the Russian makes his comeback and the action can resume.

  12. Cilic breakspublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 30 May 2014

Marin Cilic huffs, puffs and blows down the Novak Djokovic serve to take the lead in the third set.

A two-set cushion should be enough for Djokovic to ride out any turbulence, but Cilic has the weapons to make it uncomfortable for the second seed.

  13. Suarez Navarro winspublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 30 May 2014

Carla Suarez Navarro has put world number 225 Taylor Townsend to the sword 6-2 6-2.

She will play Ajla Tomljanovic next. But the more interesting thing might be what Townsend's future holds. Making her Grand Slam main draw debut, she has caught the attention with a cameo run to the third round.

We have not heard the last of her.

Roger Federer puts his beach towel down early to claim an advantage in the third, breaking Dmitry Tursunov in the opening game and following up with a swift hold.

It is almost as if winning the tie-break took the wind out of Tursunov's sails.

Novak Djokovic and Marin Cilic are still to be separated in the third set. Both appears to be gathering steam ahead of a big heave at the other's serve.

"That was exciting. I can't think what Federer was thinking. It's almost that he was a little too relaxed. Tusunov has done a great job applying the pressure."

Roger Federer seemed in control of the tie-break at 4-1 to the good, but things got out of hand real quickly.

Dmitry Tursunov battles back with meaty groundstrokes and the Russian has a set point on the Federer serve at 6-5 up, but can't convert. Federer misses one of his own as the shoot-out stays on serve, and finally pays the price.

Tursunov loads up on a forehand at 8-7 to the good and this time comes up trumps. The ball smears the chalk and Federer is not out of the woods by a long way.

"The Djokovic second serve has been a little vulnerable today, allowing Cilic to take some big swings with a degree of success, but the world number two remains peerless on the return. I asked Stan Wawrinka (name drop) the other day to name the best returner he had ever faced, and he came straight back with, 'Djokovic. Very, very difficult.' The Serb has won half the points on the Cilic serve so far, and that's keeping him comfortably ahead."
