  3. GAME AND SECOND SETpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

Afternoon all, Mike has gone for a spot of lunch so it's Lawrence in the hot seat. Grigor Dimitrov, Maria Sharapova's other half, is in complete control against Luke Saville out on Centre Court. The Bulgarian, who won the Queen's title earlier this month, takes a two-set lead as Saville fires long.

A long old slog on court 17 between Jeremy Chardy and Marinko Matosevic - we're into a fourth set in a match already over three-and-a-half hours long.

Statistically speaking, Chardy is edging things - he's hit more aces, fewer double faults, and has committed far fewer unforced errors.

But it takes guts to win on the outer courts, and Matosevic is displaying the necessary fighting qualities. He's converted 56% of the break points he has fashioned compared to Chardy's dismal 29%, and has hit 68 winners, almost 10 more than his higher-ranked opponent.

Who will prevail? Even after all this time it's still too early to say…

"It's wall to wall doubles on the outer courts with men's and women's matches in full swing. A fair crowd has gathered round Court 5 where Jamie Delgado is trying to prove he's still got it at the age of 37. The grey-bearded Brit, who played Andre Agassi on Centre Court back in 2000 in one of three visits to the singles second round, is scampering around like a teenager in his 20th year on the pro circuit."

  6. Latest scorespublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

Dimitrov 6-3 5-1 Saville: Grigor Dimitrov is taking his chance to play the wise old head, taking Saville back to school with a polished display on Centre Court.

A Kuznetsov 5-4 D Ferrer: Nothing to split 'em out on Court Two as yet.

Here's another great stat about Murray's rapid victory on Court One, courtesy of Infostrada Sports on Twitter:, external The Briton needed to play only 20 games to beat Rola. Only eight players have won with 20 games or less at Wimbledon in the Open era.

Petra Kvitova has fallen in quarter-finals in her two Wimbledon campaigns since winning the title back in 2011.

She had to withdraw from the warm-up in Eastbourne, so might come into this one a little undercooked.

Germany's Mona Barthel has six of her last nine matches against Kvitova's fellow left-handers and took a set off the woman herself in their only previous meeting - on the hard courts of Cincinnati in 2012.

We are up and running on Court One.

That's also the fewest number of points Murray has dropped in a match at Wimbledon. His previous fewest was six, in the 2012 first round win over Nikolay Davydenko: 6-1 6-1 6-4.

  12. Murray reactionpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV

"That was a maestro at work there. Murray was absolutely brilliant today. In the early part of Wimbledon, you make sure you get through the matches, but you also look to see how your game is progressing, how you're feeling the ball, what's going right, what's going wrong, what you need to work on. The answer here is that Murray has nothing to work on. Everything is working almost to perfection. It was a marvellous performance."

    Sam Sheringham
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"I've just landed on an absolute humdinger on Court 17 between Jeremy Chardy of France and Australia's Marinko Matosevic. After winning an epic tie-break 11-9 to go 2-1 up in sets, Chardy lets out an ear-splitting roar.

"But Matosevic, who upset Fernando Verdasco in the first round, has a big Aussie following, whose chants of "lets go Marinko" are drowning out the "allezs" from the French fans. These two were first on court at 11.30am. At this rate they may be last off it."

  14. Latest scorespublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

Dimitrov 4-2 Saville: Grigor Dimitorv edges ahead of Luke Saville in the first set on Centre Court.

A Kuznetsov 1-1 D Ferrer: Seventh seed David Ferrer steps out onto court two against Andrey Kuznetsov, who disposed of Britain's's Dan Evans in the first round.

J Chardy 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (11-9) 1-0 M Matosevic: The third set of an already-epic meeting out on court 17 crumbles Jeremy Chardy's way. Four minutes short of three hours on the clock.

T Puetz 6-2 4-6 F Fognini: Fabio Fognini takes the second set on court 16 and that might keep the toys in the pram for a little longer.

That third set lasted just 24 minutes, the shortest of the match. The entire match's duration was 84 mins, the same length as the 1992 Disney animated film Beauty and the Beast. Number four seed Murray dismantles a player ranked in the world's top 90? Tale as old as time…

Murray served seven aces to Rola's flat zero. He also landed his first serve six times out of 10.

And Murray won 79% of points on his first serve, to Rola's lowly 47%.

  17. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    Pat Cash
1987 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"Murray cruised along. It looked like Rola had some things to throw at him but he was too inconsistent. Murray has got a feel for Court One, he's had a look at a leftie - all positives for him."

  18. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    Richard Krajicek
1996 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"This was a much easier match than we expected for Murray after the first couple of games. I gave him seven out of 10 for the last match and this time I give him an eight. This was a 10 out of 10 performance but the opponent did not really test him so I can't go any higher!"

  19. Murray reactionpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

Andy Murray, speaking to BBC TV's Rishi Persad: "Well, I played well today. This is the first year he's played on grass. He's just come out of college and broken in to top 100. It was tough for him, because he doesn't have a lot of grass court experience, but he'll definitely keep improving. I had to concentrate on my side of the net today, though.

"Getting games finished quickly helps. I feel like that cost me a little bit at the French Open - not that i would necessarily have beaten Rafa, but I played a lot of sets and in a lot of those sets, I was up. if you can finish matches as quickly as possible, it helps. I'm sure she (Amelie Mauresmo, Murray's coach) will be happy with that, but we'll have a chat this afternoon. I'll rest up and get ready for the next round."

  20. Andy Murray v Blaz Rolapublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    Andrew Cotter
    BBC Sport commentator

"That's as comprehensive a victory as you're likely to see. The Murray machine rumbles on. No trouble no fuss, not too much energy expired. Blaz Rola had a very comfortable win himself in the first round, but Murray was several steps up. That's a statement from Andy Murray. The champion is in fine fettle."
