Josh, via text: I think Federer has had a very kind draw and the test Novak has come through will do him Novak in 4 but would not rule Roger out as he is fresher.

Errol, via text: Federer to win in four. If Novak cannot beat the king of clay on clay, he cannot beat the king of grass on grass.

Nicholas Zaf, via text: Djokovic Federer, doesn't get any bigger. If Federer wins I would not be surprised if this is his last match. Go out with a bang.

Roger Federer whittles his way to a mini-break and consolidates to 3-0 with a speeding ace. Djoko onto the board with a running drive volley and he holds serve again as he slaps away an open invite of a mid-court bounce. 3-2 Fed with two serves to come off the Swiss racquet. Djokovic plants into the net so make that 4-2 to the Fed as they swap ends.

Oh la la! Roger Federer's drop shot at 30-15 looks like it is heading south, but his Royal Swissness commands it to raise its game and the ball obliges, sliding over the tape to land on Djoko's side.

    Into a tie-break.

"In all aspects the tennis has been excellent. The serving has been very accurate and fast, there have been a few unforced errors from the back of the court but it will be interesting to see if they can both sustain these levels. There is bound to be a dip."

David Beckham making even Alan Partridge's cast-off boating blazer look good.

For once all eyes are not on the former England captain and his fashion designer other half.

More glittering play as Roger Federer makes his way to deuce with a foxy little forehand bump down the line. We are no closer to solving the mystery of who is going to win the opening set though as Djokovic grinds through.

Faced with a big point at 15-30 down Roger Federer again reverts to type, slicing and dicing from the baseline rather than rushing to the net.

Impeccable depth from the seven-time champion does the trick as Djokovic can only scrape into the net. Scurrying defence at the back from Federer takes the next point.

A fluffed drive volley, but, perhaps contrary to expectation, the Swiss is now winning the baseline battles and he makes his way home from deuce.

Jethro Swanzy:, external Federer's undoubtedly a great player, but I haven't been a fan of the RF brand since his knitted cardigan. Djokovic to win.

Now then. A mammoth rally of 21 strokes is won by Novak Djokovic, but the Serb slaps a forehand volley long in the next to give Roger Federer a little glimmer at 15-30.

That is the first chink in the top seed's armour so far. Federer could not get his crowbar in to open him though. He doesn't get a play on the ball in fact. Three whopping serves batten down the hatches.

"The first glimmer of an opportunity there for Novak Djokovic at deuce there before a thumping serve from Federer and a forehand gets Roger back on level terms."

Roger Federer's service games could really be soundtracked by Culture Club and played in short shorts.

It is pure eighties serve-volley. It is noticeable that the Swiss is less keen on his retro tactics though as he is taken to deuce.

He does well from the back of the court as well, seeing off the danger with a fine angled winner.

Novak Djokovic has been a juggernaut on serve so far and he rumbles straight past Roger Federer like a hitch-hiker on the hard shoulder to move back ahead. The Fed shaved just the one point off that game.

Small Man Peaky:, external Djokovic's defence to be the difference. Though Federer's backhand is a thing of beauty.

Michael Blighe:, external I've adored Federer and his sublime tennis ever since he first graced SW19 with his presence. Hope he gets his 8th crown today!

Roger Federer's advance to the net turns into a dejected trudge as he sees his serve swatted contemptuously down the line by Novak Djokovic for 40-30.

The Swiss is going to have to mix it up to keep his tee-off out of reach. He has been second best so far in the exchanges, but the scoreboard doesn't deal in such details and it is all even up there.
