We asked who you thought would win out of Murray and Dimitrov and it seems there are mixed opinions

Freddie Clamp: , externalDimitrov in 4 - his all-court game will trouble Murray. Murray's wait for a top-10 victory will lengthen.

Nurein Ahmed:, external Andy Murray will be taken the distance. Dimitrov is a better opponent, but the Brit should edge it in four.

Rik Wolland:, external Murray has a little too much firepower for Grigor; Andy to see this one through in four sets.

And a contest here to tickle every synapse: the champ against the coming kid, the quiet Scot against the glamourpuss boomer, the Bulgarian Beckham against one of Beckham's best mates. Your key omen: on each occasion Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov have met before, the winner of the contest has gone on to take the tournament. I know.

Always pleasing to get a Flavor Flav reference into a Wimbledon commentary. No truth to the rumours that Sir Mixalot will be appearing in the Royal Box for the second set. Absolute ripper of a day out there, an afternoon that defines summer - blue skies, token and benign clouds, the smell of suncream, cheeky lagers on the go and top-notch sport to settle into.

"It's really important you are not thinking about serving for the match. It's really important at this stage that you just go point by point. Bouchard will be nervous so she has to stay calm, move her feet and take her time. So often you can rush at a time like this."

You don't need any Flavor Flav style neckwear to know what time it is.

Please be upstanding as Centre Court rises to applaud its defending champion to the floor.

Andy Murray v Grigor Dimitrov is just minutes away.

Tom Fordyce is here right now though to get your last-eight juices flowing.

There is something mysterious about Simona Halep's game.

The sum parts are not that impressive. She landed only 50% of her first serves. Her serve speed was well down on Lisicki's and she clocked up 11 unforced errors of her own.

Yet it all added up into a very impressive victory.

"It wasn't the the best service game for Bouchard, she has got to get back to being aggressive. She lost her focus and was a little bit tight but let see how she rebounds."

  8. Match statspublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Sabine Lisicki actually managed to hit more winners than Simona Halep during the match, 17 to 16.

Her downfall though came via 20 unforced errors and the fact she converted only 56% of first-serve points.

  9. Halep into semi-finalspublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Simona Halep after her win over Sabine Lisicki: "It wasn't as easy at it looked. I had a slow start but then I came back well. I played my best and I enjoyed every moment being on Centre Court so I am happy I could win in two sets and prepare for the next match."

"I have more confidence and the secret is to enjoy and fight for every point. I like how I hit and move and I enjoy every moment.

"In the French Open I was the highest seed left too so now I have that experience, I don't feel the pressure. I just want to enjoy it and give my best."

    That is your lot.

Simona Halep lost the first three games of the match, but won 12 of the next 13 to run away with the match.

A 58-minute steamrollering and, presuming it will be Eugenie Bouchard in the last four, a semi-final to look forward to.

  13. Halep breakspublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

It is open house on the Sabine Lisicki serve. Simona Halep is looting the German's tee-off at will.

As soon as she gets the ball back into a rally, a Lisicki error is never far away.

She has a place in the semi-final under her arm and is surely out of the reach of even the very long arm of Lisicki.

Halep serves for the match next.

  14. Postpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

The only point against the Simona Halep serve in this set so far has been a double fault.

Lisicki started to crumble in in last year's final when Marion Bartoli got on top of her. This has that sort of feel to it.

  15. Halep breakspublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Simona Halep just keeps asking questions and eventually she stumps Sabine Lisicki to leave the German with one foot on the plane.

Lisicki has all the power, but her flaying forehands are being chased down all along the baseline by Halep and the errors eventually emerge in the 19th seed's game.

From 0-40, Halep makes the second break point stick as Lisicki comes to the net looking for the kill and shoots herself in the foot, duffing a volley wide.

"Eugenie Bouchard is climbing into the Angelique Kerber second serve with regularity and a forehand return winner forces break point early in the second, which a frustrated Kerber surrenders with a long forehand of her own. Bouchard has the lead in the second and is on course for the semi-finals."

An air of concern floats around Centre Court. Sabine Lisicki, one of their favourites, is in danger of taking the fast chute out of the championships. She failed to make much of an impression on the Halep serve in that game.

Oh deary, deary me. Sabine Lisicki with Centre Court pretty much to herself and a simple forehand volley to put away to close out the game from advantage. You know what's coming don't you?

Somehow she plonks the ball between the trams. The crowd groans and even the Lisicki grin looks a little wry as she clutches her bat to her head.

Lisicki double-faults on a second game point and finally Halep, not playing too cleverly herself, makes her pay.

A Lisicki double-handed backhand clears the baseline with a racquet handle to spare as she folds out of the game.

"I was not impressed the way Kerber competed in that last game. She seemed to really deflate and not compete point in point out but she is showing a bit more resilience now which is crucial."
