Grigor Dimitrov speaking to BBC Sport after beating Andy Murray 6-1 7-6 6-2: "I am excited and just happy I got through that match in straight sets. It's never easy coming to play Andy in front of a home crowd and I am just fortunate and happy.

"As soon as we started warming up I sensed his game was not at the highest level and I was feeling good. I held my ground through and the tie break was crucial. I went into the third set very positive.

"Today was one of those days when I was pretty steady for the whole match and came out the winner.

"It's tough when you know the person well outside the court and you have to face them. I have hopefully two more matches left and I am just focussing on that and trying not to get carried away."

Andy struggled. His first-serve wasn't bad but, when he missed, he only won three out of 10 on the second. Dimitrov controlled it. The second-set tie-break was crucial. Andy didn't play at his best today and so there's not too much to analyse.

"It is tough to come back and defend your title and Andy came out and I thought he looked flat at the start but credit to Dimitrov, he was eager and up for the match."

  4. Match statspublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Two keys stats for you: Andy Murray made 37 unforced errors in those two hours and one minute. And in that time he won just 31% of points on his second serve. It's like trying to climb a mountain by first digging a ditch.

  5. Murray out of Wimbledonpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Grigor Dimitrov speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm excited. It's never easy coming to play against Andy, especially with the home crowd.

"As soon as we were warming up, I said his game wasn't at the highest level, while at the same time I felt confident. The second-set tie-break was a key moment for me.

"This was one of those days where I was pretty steady throughout the whole match. It's a tough feeling when you know someone outside the court but then you come to play them in the match."

Great credit to Grigor Dimitrov, who came into the champion's lair and made a horrible mess of it. But this was more than a match won; it was a contest lost by Murray, a barely recognisable shadow of the player who triumphed a year ago, not even half the man wo had breezed through the first four rounds without dropping a set.

  7. Murray v Dimitrovpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 live

"We are baffled by the performance of Andy Murray. You can have bad days but it's strange that his intensity is not higher. At least make your opponent work and put him under pressure but that isn't happening."

You'd hope Murray has a miracle within him here, but it appears instead that even he does not believe. Weary forehand wide, 0-30, two points from a untimely demise. Double fault! It'll take more than a miracle here, it'll take the world to reverse its turn. All or nothing forehand down the line, into the very corner. One saved. First serve missed, story of the contest. Second serve inviting, Dimitrov into it, Murray... nets! Andy Murray is out of Wimbledon 2014.

And still the errors come. The muse that was by Murray's side throughout the first four rounds has flown the nest - woeful backhand long, another with shoulders stooped, an ace gone by that brings only mute resignation. Unless Murray wins at least the next three games, his reign as Wimbledon champion is over.

Lovely image there, like a sprint hurdler. Albeit with a trail leg that's too low. Dimitrov with a crackeroo of a forehand return down the line, and a horrible forehand error into the net suddenly has him at deuce having been in control. No no, ugly off-balance backhand drive, break point. Trouble. First serve: long. Big trouble. Second serve: wide! Horrible, horrible trouble...

    Peter Fleming
Seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC TV

"You won't play your best tennis every day but if you can defend well, you put yourself in a position to scrape through and that is what Djokovic is doing now. He hasn't played badly - it is just that Cilic has raised his game."

  12. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

    Sam Sheringham
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"There's a worrying air of resignation on a packed Henman Hill. Drinks are being sipped, not swigged, sandwiches nibbled, not munched, the applause rudimentary, not lusty. As bare backs redden in the hot sun, you sense the fans are desperate for Murray to give them something to cheer about."

  13. Murray v Dimitrovpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 live

"Murray is lapsing into his old days, looking up at his box and talking to them but he can't do that. He needs to jump up from his chair and look positive. If he can get just one break then Dimitrov will get nervous and Murray has to be ready to take advantage."

  15. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 2 July 2014

Deeper backhand from Murray at last to monkey with Grigor's footwork, and at last he'll have a deuce. Small green shoots. Oh, was that a string breaking? It was, and what an inopportune moment for that to happen. An ominous stat for you: Murray has now made 26 unforced errors in the two and a half sets so far.

Tom Arnold:, external Why does Murray look so dejected? This time last year he really fired himself up, poor Andy looks totally flat...

Nurein Ahmed:, external Murray can get back in this game, but there are no signs of Dimitrov crumbling.

Centre Court a vision, Dimitrov's serve a nightmare. He's rattling through it almost as fast as Nick Kyrgios did in his regicide on Rafa Nadal last night. Is another Wimbledon king about to be dethroned?
