    Murray 6-1 6-2 6-3 Zverev

Andy Murray, as you may expect, is asked about how he feels about becoming a father: "I'm more excited than nervous now. I was a bit nervous but am looking forward to it. I'm hoping my phone hasn't been buzzing in my bag but Kim will message the team if anything happens in any of the matches."

Murray has said he will leave the Australian Open if his wife goes into labour, though she is not due to give birth until February.

Andy Murray reacts to his win on court: "It got tough at the end, a lot of long games and long rallies. It was tough conditions today and started to get very hot when the clouds went away so I'm glad to get it done in straight sets. It seemed like all the games were going to deuce. He hung in right until the end and fought hard. He is young but one of the best young players in the world and will be around for a long time.

"I remember when I was 18 and I played a lot of tough matches against the best players, you learn every time you play against them.

"I've been close on a number of occasions and played well in the finals but not sustained my level for long enough. If I get to that position again hopefully I will have learned from that and not let it happen again."

Murray has of course lost in four Australian Open finals.

Great Britain's Colin Fleming summarising on BBC Radio 5 live: "It was almost a perfect start. He was moving very freely and hitting the ball very well on both wings. That suggests he's got everything in place for another good run."

    Murray 6-1 6-2 6-3 Zverev

Some late defiance from Alexander Zverev who has not disgraced himself in any way here. Remember he is the youngest player in the world's top 100.

He saves two match points but faces a third with Murray at advantage. Zverev tries to go down the line with a forehand but it finds the very top of the net and Murray can stop running. Job done.

Finally a picture of the four men who have made a right noise between games. They've clearly rehearsed a lot of material as their songs are inventive to say the least.

As Alexander Zverev ticks on to 40 unforced errors Andy Murray races to the net to complete a simple volley and move within one game of victory.

Murray took one point in that game which was remarkable, sprinting to the net to pick up a low stroke and slip it back at the feet of Zverev who could only find the net.

Alexander Zverev will be fined for taking too long between serves, the umpire informs him.

He's like a jelly now is this tall, thin German. His 6ft 6in frame looks to be wilting in the Melbourne heat.

Murray is reading virtually everything coming at him. Zverev has made 34 unforced errors so far to Murray's 18 and he takes shelter in the shade as Murray changes a racquet. Deep breaths are visible from the Hamburg-born 18-year-old.

Hats off to him though, he holds after a long game as Murray hits the net with a clipped backhand. Zverev is getting a hell of a workout here.

    Lopez 6-0 6-1 6-4

And with a pump of the fist Felciani Lopez shows why he is seeded 18 for this tournament. The Spaniard just had too much all day long.

He managed 12 aces to the five Dan Evans mustered but really worked his serve well, winning 91% of points on first serve.

It amounts to a win in one hour and 28 minutes.

Andy Murray asks the umpire how long the players can have between points. It's a subtle reminder to keep an eye on Alexander Zverev who looks a little wiped out at this stage.

This must be hard to take for an 18-year-old. The graft is there for all to see, a lot of running, tonnes of strokes, but Andy Murray just flicks balls back at Alexander Zverev with ease.

Zverev is currently an economical car in fifth gear, tyres burning with the workload. Murray a super car in second gear - tonnes of room to open up.

He tries to punish Zverev with a feisty forehand from deep but it's long, so can Zverev hold here at 40-30? No. A volley comes back at Murray who reacts with a volley of his own... deuce.

The four-time finalist twists his body through a classy forehand to set up break point but he cannot take it and Zverev closes out.

Matthew Vernon: Stunning from Konta! How often do we see the Williams sisters get out of jail when under the weather? Not this time. Ruthless.

Ayo Obit: Great performance by Jo Konta. With her draw she has a great chance of reaching the R16 or Quarters.

Johanna Konta after her remarkable victory over Venus Williams: "When the draw came out I was like 'OK, I hope to stay out thee more than an hour'. Dan Evans serves out back-to-back service games to love.

The Briton took a comfort break after the second set - his head was probably spinning after falling two sets down in around 49 minutes.

Better in the third though as he leads narrowly. The flow stemmed at last.

Lovely stuff from Andy Murray. Even when he is absolutely hammering someone he can find great joy from an audacious shot. Scampering across court he passes a lovely forehand across his man and then points to the sky, he loves that.

As we approach 90 minutes of play he will want this over soon in order to get out of the heat.

Another Murray break point... nothing doing as he overcooks a cross-court shot. Ace from Zverev - 215kmh - a quick one. And the teenager holds.

That's more of the stuff from Alexander Zverev. That's what the talk and hype are about as he takes a forehand on early from the baseline and Andy Murray doesn't even give chase. This is break point, on Murray's second serve, but Zverev only finds the net.

"Game Murray", says the umpire in a deep voice. Zverev hooked a return just over the net but fractionally wide.
