"I think Andy is right in the final. Novak Djokovic has played like a man under pressure – he’s been patchy and grumpy, a bit like Andy Murray. While Murray has been more like Djokovic. It’s going to be intriguing."

Andy Murray has joined a list of 10 players who have reached the final of every single Grand Slam.

He joins Jim Courier, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall.

That sounds like the ideal dinner party line-up.

Greg: Simply outstanding from king of British tennis

Steve Embleton: Great performance again from @andy_murray who seems to play much better when I follow on live text rather than watch.

Sho Rahman: Andy has been superb today. His best ever performance on clay. Scary thing is he'll have to play even better against Novak.

"Murray came in with a game plan and he did it by and large to perfection. He knew Stan would be chipping his forehand and returns."

    Murray reaches French Open final

Andy Murray speaking on court: "I knew today if I wanted to win I was going to have to play one of my best clay-court matches. Stan was playing better every match and I played one of my best matches. I’m looking forward to the final. I’m extremely proud. I never expected to reach the final here, I always struggled on the clay. I hope I can put on a good match on Sunday."

    Murray into French Open final

1937 - the last time a British man made it to the final at Roland Garros.

What a moment for Andy Murray. Pat on the back, sir.

"That was a pretty much exemplary display from the world number two. He has taken down the defending champion and done it in style."

    Murray 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2 Wawrinka

That's it! Andy Murray is in the final of the French Open for the first time!

He finishes off with a cool overhead winner. Stan Wawrinka looks spent, and he is spent.

The Swiss loses his title, but who's going to take it off him now?

OK, here we go then, everyone stay calm.

Murray squeezes out the first point and then a forehand into the corner makes it 30-0. That'll do.

Wawrinka hits long and it's match point. Three of them.

    *Murray 6-4 6-2 4-6 5-2 Wawrinka

All in Andy Murray's favour now as he moves to 0-30 on Wawrinka's serve.

Stan's racquet smashes into the clay (not quite Djokovic style) as Murray earns triple break point.

Murray does well to race left-to-right to hit back but Wawrinka's overhead steals one point back.

But it's all in vain. Murray breaks at the second opportunity and he will serve for a place in the final.

    Murray 6-4 6-2 4-6 4-2 Wawrinka*

Wawrinka lets out a yelp as he smashes past Murray and steals the first point of the game.

But Murray responds with a knock-out forehand. Take that.

A serve-and-volley moves the Briton to 30-15, but he then swipes at a backhand and it hits the netting.

It's then Wawrinka's turn to smack too low and Murray finishes off the game with a sublime forehand winner.

    *Murray 6-4 6-2 4-6 3-2 Wawrinka

We know that Murray likes to call himself a turnip, but are we allowed to do the same?

He's just tried to tip-toe a delicate shot over the net and it didn't work at all. Turnip.

Twice in succession Stan Wawrinka clips the net with a winner, so has to hold his hands up and apologise, but it means he holds.

"Wawrinka's best bet is to get to 5-4 and hope Murray tightens up. This is the danger time now for Wawrinka."

The umpire asks for quiet as the players return to their respective markers. There's a couple of lads taking selfies in the stands - I SEE YOU.

Murray isn't distracted, though. He spins a delightful backhand over for 30-0 and gives himself a mini congratulations as Wawrinka slaps the ball into the net on the next point.

Murray sees out the game with no drama.

"He's been hanging in there Wawrinka. He did a good job of that in third set. He's not able to hit winners, Murray can retrieve everything he is throwing at him, and it's frustrating Stan. He likes to hit a lot of winners."
