This is a very high quality match and a much anticipated one. The back story is so interesting. Bouchard was a finalist here two years ago, got to five in the world but then had a huge dip because of all of the expectation on her and struggled to deal with the pressure. She said she was eating less because she was so nervous. For Johanna Konta, she was outside the top 100 a year ago, but now the expectations are that she will win this match.

In the first set, Johanna started really well but Eugenie Bouchard used her experience and hard-hitting strokes to come back and completely dismantle Konta's game.

In the second set Konta found her way into the match, got a little more focus and showed us some really good tennis.

Andrew Tarpey: The match is still in Bouchard's hands. Chances to break just need to be taken and it should be a simple set

And now it's advantage to the British number one.

Konta holds with an overhead smash and takes the set. Boomtown.

    *Bouchard 6-3 1-5 Konta

In various tennis live texts, I've tried to coin the phrase break-back-ability.

I think this is the appropriate time to get it out again. Bouchard has two break points.

Oh, but hang on. Konta rescues both of them. We go to deuce. Stand down on the fancy new lexicon.

These points are so physical. Both players are producing laser-like shots just a foot over the net, very high risk, but very high quality.
