It's a bit of a tame ending for Del Potro out on court 12 as he wins just one game today, with Pouille racing through the fourth set. The French 32nd seed - who lost to Andy Murray in the Rome semi-finals earlier this year - will play Australian Bernard Tomic in the last 16.

  2. 'Amazing win' for Kuznetsovapublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Kuznetsova beats Stephens 6-7 6-2 8-6

"It's great I think it was an amazing match," said Kuznetsova. "I was 5-2 down in the third set but I hung in there. I was really frustrated [about the code violation for coaching] because she warned me in the first set because he talks a lot, and then in the second set he says 'come on keep going' and I get a code violation. It's a big fine and very frustrating."

Former Wimbledon mixed doubles champion on BBC TV

You have to play the match of your life to beat Serena. We have seen this year a few times that nerves turn up. I don’t know if that is being 34, possibly at the end of her career, chasing the record of Steffi Graf.

These are the types of matches where, maybe at Wimbledon, she'll get her 22nd. She feels so comfortable here on the grass whereas so few players feel at their best. Its an awkward surface to move on. Half of playing here is in your mind.

Serena Williams, speaking to BBC One: "I thought it was a good win. I was really focused and calm. I was at Wimbledon the last time they played on a Sunday. It was nice. I love having Sunday off, but I'm a bit behind on my matches. I've done a third Monday before - hopefully that won't happen this time."

She's now clocked up 300 Grand Slam wins. What a woman.

Roger Federer speaking to Sue Barker:

"Mentally I am much better. I am more confident than I was coming in a week ago. I know where my mind and game is at. Clearly I now fancy my chances than one week ago.

"Novak was the defending champion and he was the big favourite. Now that pressure switches - maybe Murray, maybe myself. It is an opportunity and that can play tricks on player's minds. You need to focus.

"I like that my kids enjoy the challenging life I have. They like tennis enough to come watch my matches from time to time – they always ask me if they can bring some books out if they get bored!"

Juan Martin del Potro and Lucas Pouille are back out on court 12 to resume their rather testy contest from last night - Del Potro apparently told the Frenchman to "shut up" after a disagreement over a line call, just before play was suspended. All appears calm now, with Pouille leading by two sets to one as they get under way again.

While playing tennis on Middle Sunday isn't the norm at the All England Club, it is on Wimbledon Park.

Southfields resident Geoff Smith (the white baseball cap-wearing bloke with the tidy forehand) has brought his net and makeshift court down to the Queue for a sixth successive year.

Not bad a way to pass the time while his partner and their pals patiently wait for Manic Monday tickets.

"There's always a lot of interest from people wanting a game," he says. "I've taken people on from all over the world. It's all good fun."

Be warned if you fancy taking on Geoff. He's a hustler. I didn't even win a point.
