  1. Berdych: Best player to not win a major?published at 15:05 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player at Wimbledon

People have been saying that Berdych is the best player to play who hasn't won a major. He's in a tough era with there being three or four players who win a lot. He's been very consistent in big tournaments.

At the end of last year he employed Andy Murray's ex-coach Daniel Vallverdu and for six months it looked like it was making a difference. Since then he's maybe dropped off slightly and doesn't look like he'll pierce into those top two or four players who are contesting Grand Slams.

    Kyrgios 6-3 6-7 6-3 0-1 Lopez

Can't take your eyes off this one - Kyrgios with two break points, only for Lopez to deny him one with a sweet cross-court backhand past his stranded opponent and the second with a stretching, slamming volley.

Who says it's all about boom boom serving? Well, it mainly is, but Isner shows some nice touch at the net with a drop volley to move ahead again. This match has only been under way a piffling three-and-a-half hours, over two days. Isner needed 11 hours and five minutes to beat Mahut.

Henrik IR: Isn't the lack of a tie-break a bit stupid here? Regardless of the winner, they will be too tired to go through the next round?

    Zverev 3-6 Berdych

Berdych with his nose in front in his 13th consecutive Wimbledon appearance. Reached the quarter-finals at both the Aussie and French Opens, looking on course for a shot at the same here.

  6. 'Zverev is effortlessly powerful'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player at Wimbledon

Alexander Zverev has all the attributes and, barring any injuries, he undoubtedly has a game to get him into the top five. The serve is effortlessly powerful, he's six foot six, he already moves well and that's only going to get better.

  7. Isner v Tsonga (epic)published at 14:58 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Isner 7-6 6-3 6-7 2-6 11-10* Tsonga

"Isner leads.... 11 games to 10........ final set." The umpire has a very weary tone as he updates the score, following a thumping Isner forehand. He's probably aware that Mohamed Lahyani famously endured the whole of Isner-Mahut without a single 'comfort break'. The pressure's on.

    Kyrgios 6-3 6-7 5-3 Lopez

The Aussie with two bites at 15-40 - Lopez saves the first with a meaty cross-court forehand, but when another eats net the break is taken. He'll be serving for a two sets to one lead...

Two more service holds. But you knew that. So far we have had one return winner from each player - in the whole match. Tsonga takes a long slug of water. Hydration could be key over the next few games/hours/days.

  12. 'He makes the racquet look like a squash racquet'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player on BBC TV

Tomas Berdych is so powerful, I always think he’s somebody who is such a strong athlete. He makes the racquet look like a squash racquet, he’s such a big guy.

When he has time and he’s on balance, there’s so much power that comes off the racquet there’s very little you can to do to defend against him.

    Zverev 2-4 Berdych

First break of the day on Centre, and it's the Czech who's taken it. Appreciative applause from the blissed-out Middle Sunday punters.

  14. Isner v Tsonga (epic)published at 14:43 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    Isner 7-6 6-3 6-7 2-6 9-8* Tsonga

Three more service games ticked off, although Tsonga gets a big cheer from the court two crowd when a fizzing return gets him to 30-30. A chance?

    Isner ace. Tsonga error. Game.

Under way with our third match on Centre, the smackdown between 10th seed Tomas Berdych - forgotten finalist in 2010 - and promising 24th seed, Germany's Alexander Zverev. The 19-year-old Zverev is very highly rated on the circuit, and is looking to reach the fourth round for the first time in his career.

Today, with roughly half the crowd which normally attends Wimbledon, is a perfect chance to soak up all the sights.

The area around the practice courts is normally jammed with tennis fans trying to get a glimpse of players.

But there was only a handful of people watching on as Britain's Jamie Murray (nearest) warmed up for his doubles match.

    Isner 7-6 6-3 6-7 2-6 7-7 Tsonga

    Piers Newbery
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

This might have a familiar ring to it - John Isner is involved in a fifth set Wimbledon epic against a Frenchman. This time it's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, rather than Nicolas Mahut, who's fielding the American's huge serves and we're on court two, rather than 18, but at 7-7 in the decider we have some way to go to match 2010's longest match ever. That one ended 70-68 in Isner's favour. Maybe put the kettle on...

One of the joys of being a spectator at Wimbledon is you can sometimes spy the competitors in between matches.

On a more relaxed day like People's Sunday, the usually-crowded walkways and avenues have plenty of room, with fans and - occasionally players - strolling around in the sunshine.
