Incredible guts from Evans. Break point down and he's slapping it all over the place in this high pressure rally.
He forces Cilic into the drop shot and attacks and finishes to take it to deuce.
Now it's Cilic at the net with a backhand volley for advantage. Deuce again though, back to Cilic advantage, deuce once more.
Quite the tussle.
The crowd are really into this one. Evans goes long. But deuce again. This one's a match in itself.
Advantage Cilic, Deuce. Frankly I don't have the space to describe all these points.
Now - advantage Evans. Deuce. Blimey. Cilic backhand winner - advantage. Deuce again. Seven break points squandered by Cilic...

Evans trots into a 0-30 lead but play is held up by a pair of feathery interlopers.
Cilic, very much on a wing and a prayer, is helped out by a miscued Evans swipe.
Bang. Get out the way, Dan. A whopping serve into the body.
And now Evans goes long and then he goes wide with a crosscourt effort on the run.

Booming forehand followed by an overhead that Cilic can't return has Evans at 30-0.
And then the Evans serve, which is finding its rhythm, sees it out for the set.
Let's put this in context - the world number 51 is 2-1 up on the world number seven.
Hold on to your hats, folks.

"Come on," Evans mutters to himself. A little personal pep talk.
It's Cilic who needs the motivation though as his forehand deserts him, just crumbles in front of his eyes, to go 15-40.
An ace pulls one back and finally Cilic nails a forehand to go to deuce.
A great rally that Evans some how keeps alive is finally finished by Cilic and Evans then finds the net to take it to another game.

Say it quietly, but Evans is coasting towards claiming a second set.
The slice continues to trouble Cilic and Evans pummels away one that sits up with absolute disdain and confidence.

Cilic is in desperate need of steadying his rudderless boat.
A few big boy serves will help and there's a couple to ease the nerves.
A crashing forehand down the line is sweet as a nut and it sends him to a straightforward hold.

Dan Evans - king of the tennis challenge.
He sees out this hold of service by reviewing a call and once again he gets it right.

Now then.
Remember how Nick Kyrgios was sailing at 2-0 up against Andreas Seppi.
Well the Australian is living up to his mercurial reputation as he allows the Italian to level up at 2-2. Keep your eyes on that one.

The first goes courtesy of a big serve.
And it looks like the second has gone.. Evans challenges, saying the Cilic shot was out. And he was right! Evans gets the break.

While Dan is ranked lower, he's regarded as the underdog. But he's a crafty player, with a great game at the net. I think the crowd are really enjoying watching him.

09:26 GMT 18 January 2017Evans 3-6 7-5 2-1 Cilic*
Evans thinks he's hit a worldy of a drop shot right on the line to go 40-0, but Cilic defies all 6ft 6in of his build to scamper there and dink a crosscourt winner.
No bother. Evans combines a serve and forehand follow-up for 40-15.
He thanks he has the game sewn up but the umpire overrules a long call. And now he does as Cilic misses his target.

Cilic looks to regain a modicum of composure and seemingly does as goes 40-0 up.
But Evans hits a superb forehand winner to bring back the doubts and then an error closes the gap further.
But there's a pummeling ace out wide to see it out.
