    Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 1-5 Bedene*

That's brilliant from Bedene. His fourth backhand winner of the match and 20th in total takes him to 30-30.

Another forehand winner from Bedene, I think Harrison thought that was going out.

Wide the American goes again. That's another break and a 5-1 lead for Bedene. I think this one is done.

    Djokovic 1-0 Granollers*

Novak Djokovic, defending champion, gets the really, really quiet party started.

The world number two is decked out in black and white with what looks like a barcode across his shirt. Can't tell if it's fashionable or not.

Anyway, he moves to 40-0 on his opening service game and holds to love. Simples.

    Djokovic v Granollers

    Here we go then.

Djokovic and Granollers are about to get under way.

It looks like the temperature has dropped a bit in Paris, which must be a relief for everyone.

The crowd is sparse once again, though.

    *Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 1-4 Bedene

If Aljaz Bedene holds his next three service games he'll be the first British player into the second round.

That break of serve has done him the world of good. A thumping forehand takes him to 40-0. Now that is wild from Harrison. From way out of the court he goes for a huge forehand and it sails long. Bedene is two games away.

    Djokovic v Granollers

Marcel Granollers has won just 10 games over the course of three previous meetings with Novak Djokovic. This is the pair’s fourth meeting and their third at a Grand Slam, but their first encounter on clay.

    Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 1-3 Bedene*

After a lull both of these players are right on it now.

Bedene comes out on top of a 22-shot rally by crunching a backhand crosscourt winner.

Double fault from Harrison! That hands Bedene two break points.

First one saved with an ace. 30-40.

Here comes Bedene, stepping into a forehand. Harrison gets it back but fails with the following backhand. That is the break!

Andre Agassi was back out on Philippe Chatrier Court - scene of his career Grand Slam victory in 1999 - at 0930 BST in his new coaching role, overseeing Novak Djokovic's morning hit. There was a brief interruption when tournament director, and former Agassi rival, Guy Forget came on for a hug - Andre loves a hug - but otherwise the Las Vegan kept a watchful eye on his charge from various angles.

    Djokovic v Granollers

Rewind to the end of last year's French Open, Novak Djokovic had just won the one major that had evaded him, giving him a career Grand Slam.

Having started 2016 by winning the Australian Open, the Serb was being tipped for a calendar Grand Slam.

But since then things have not gone to plan.

Djokovic exited early at Wimbledon and at the 2017 Australian Open, and has won just won title this year.

In fact it is the first time since 2012 that the world number two has not won a title on clay coming into Roland Garros.

What’s the answer? Mr Andre Agassi, his new coach.

    *Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 1-2 Bedene

After that loose first game, Harrison is much more focused on his own serve, finishing the game with two aces.

The American fist pumps afterwards, trying to show off his confidence to his opponent.

Bedene too holds comfortably moments later to keep his nose ahead in this set.

From one defending champion to another on Philippe Chatrier court.

Novak Djokovic is up next against Marcel Granollers.

    Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 0-1 Bedene*

A solid start to the fourth set from Aljaz Bedene with a comfortable hold to love.

That was a little loose from Harrison. He gave away four errors in a row there.

"On the left for court two, on the right for court three."

Clearly there are more Milos Raonic fans here than Aljaz Bedene followers.

It was a good fight. Schiavone almost turned it around there but it was still a good effort for Muguruza to get through.

  14. Muguruza into the second roundpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

    Muguruza 6-2 6-4 Schiavone

Garbine Muguruza gets off to a good start in the defence of her title with a straight sets win.

She does a Serena Williams-style wave and curtsy as she leaves the court to applause.

And Schiavone exits the Roland Garros clay for the final time. The 2010 champion is due to retire at the end of the year.

    Harrison 4-6 0-6 6-3 Bedene

And with little problems American Ryan Harrison serves out to take the third set.

When Bedene was on a role, sealing the second set with his ninth game in a row, this game looked over but now it is very much alive.

    *Harrison 4-6 0-6 5-3 Bedene

A huge serve from Ryan Harrison clinches the seventh game of this third set.

Remarkably, after what happened to the American in the second set, he is a game away from reducing his deficit.

British number three Bedene breezes through a service game so now Harrison will serve for the set.

    Muguruza 6-2 6-4 Schiavone

Match point number four! Surely Muguruza's got to take this one?

    Her first serve goes out.

Her second serve is weak...but Schiavone puts a scooped shot wide.

    Muguruza takes the match!

    Muguruza 6-2 5-4 Schiavone*

    Third time lucky for Muguruza?

Nope. She thinks she's lobbed her opponent to take the match but it's dropped out.

    Nightmare.

    Muguruza 6-2 5-4 Schiavone*

Advantage Muguruza now, which means another match point.

But after a ridiculously long rally, the Spaniard's forehand goes way, way past the tramlines.

    Back to deuce we go.
