  1. Game and first set - Kvitovapublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    *Larsson 3-6 Kvitova

A little nervy from Petra Kvitova, a backhand error and a double fault giving Johanna Larsson an opening, but the Czech shuts it down and forces it to deuce.

Down come the forehand and Kvitova advances, throwing Larsson off and her slice forehand goes wide

Set point Can Kvitova take it? Down comes the serve, Larsson goes for a short return - and the ball hits the net cord and lands back on the Swede's side! Kvitova will take the first set.

    Larsson 3-5 Kvitova*

Petra Kvitova has just played, for me, the shot of the day.

A stonking forehand winner down the line, Kvitova changing at the last minute from a defensive shot to an aggressive one, and that's allowed her to break Johanna Larsson.

Kvitova will be serving for the set.

  6. Serena out on the...claypublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

Seven months pregnant and still on court.

    All hail Serena Williams!

    *Nadal 6-1 1-1 Millman

That's a proper hoick from Rafael Nadal, going for the forehand winner and instead ballooning the ball up into the crowd. One fan ducks, rather sensibly, to avoid the incoming tennis ball.

A good hold from John Millman, tidying things up with another ace.

    Nadal 6-1 1-0 Millman

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Rather surprisingly, there are a few empty seats dotted around Court One at the moment. Whatever their excuse is, it had better be decent.

Because Rafa Nadal is putting on a masterclass.

The Spanish fourth seed has lost on his last three Wimbledon appearances to players ranked outside the top 100.

John Millman does not look to be following Lukas Rosol, Steve Darcis and Dustin Brown in causing a scene....

  9. In the men's draw...published at 16:23 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    • Nick Kyrgios became the first big name casualty in the men's draw earlier today. The Australian 20th seed had to retire with a hip injury at the end of the second set against Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France.
    • Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - the 12th seed - progressed to the second round after beating British wildcard Cameron Norrie in straight sets.
    • Ninth seed Kei Nishikori made quick work of Marco Cecchinato, winning 6-2 6-2 6-0.

  10. In the women's draw...published at 16:21 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    • Venus Williams sailed through to the second round with a straight-set victory against Elise Merterns. Williams is one of only two former champions, alongside Petra Kvitova, competing at Wimbledon this year.
    • French Open finalist Simona Halep won 6-4 6-1 against Marina Erakovic.
    • Fourth seed Elina Svitolina beat Ashleigh Barty 7-5 7-6 (10-8).

    Larsson 3-3 Kvitova*

Some big shots being played on Centre Court, as Petra Kvitova sprawls and backhands a furious slam from Johanna Larsson into the net.

Up to the net comes Kvitova, going for that dinky backhand once again, but the angle is wrong and that's out. All square.

  13. Is Murray ready for Dreddy?published at 16:18 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

We already know who Andy Murray is playing in round two - Dustin Brown. You can expect to hear and see quite a lot of the extrovert Jamaican-German over the next couple of days as he plots another Wimbledon upset to go with his previous shock wins over Lleyton Hewitt (2013) and Rafa Nadal (2015).

Brown, 32, is ranked 97 in the world, calls his unique playing style 'Dreddy Tennis' and is looking forward to trying his luck against the defending champion. He told BBC Sport that playing Murray will be "fun" and "an honour" and he will "go out and play my game and be aggressive".

Whatever happens, I don't think it will be dull.

  14. Game and first set - Nadalpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    *Nadal 6-1 Millman

Rafael Nadal has just got the sort of top spin on an angled forehand that Shane Warne would be proud of.

Magnificent. He comes up to the net, John Millman tries to lob him, but he misjudges the length and the ball skews out. A grunt, a battered forehand, and the first set goes, in emphatic fashion, to Nadal.

    *Nadal 5-1 Millman

I'm afraid the Fanatics are going to have to wait a little while longer before there's something to make some noise for.

John Millman is serving to stay in this first set against Rafael Nadal. Two double faults first up won't help his cause...

    Nadal 4-1 Millman

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The Aussie Fanatics haven't had much to cheer today.

First they saw Nick Kyrgios retire hurt against Pierre-Hugues Herbert and now the gang, all decked out in bright gold tees and green snapback baseball caps, are seeing John Millman struggle against Rafa Nadal.

I say, gang. There's only five of them today. And they've barely uttered a "C'mon John!"

The others must be refuelling, ready to return with some much needed vocal support for the world number 137.

    *Larsson 2-1 Kvitova

    Petra KvitovaImage source, PA

Petra Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon champion, is struggling over on Centre Court.

She comes skipping to the net and aims a little dab over the net but there's too much fizz on that for such a delicate shot. An over-hit forehand brings up deuce.

Johanna Larsson slices a return into the net, giving Kvtova the advantage, and she gets on the board with a nice body serve.

Game, set and match - Svitolinapublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Barty 5-7 6-7 (8-10) Svitolina

    Elina SvitolinaImage source, PA

Elina Svitolina has never been past the quarter-final of a grand slam before, but reached the last eight at this year's French Open and - seeded fourth - could well be in contention for the latter stages of this Wimbledon.

She was made to work by Australia's Ashleigh Barty but the Ukrainian finally comes through on her sixth match point to secure a 7-5 7-6 (10-8) victory.

Svitolina will face Francesca Schiavone in round two after the Italian saw off Luxembourg's Mandy Minella 6-1 6-1.
