Seeing as there was not much to talk about tennis-wise for Roger Federer after his demolition of Dusan Lajovic (well, it's all been said before), it was his clothing which grabbed the attention of some tennis journalists in his post-match media conference.

Federer has always worn Nike throughout his glorious career but if wins a 21st Grand Slam title then it will be wearing Uniqlo.

But there was one thing missing on his new gear...

"The RF logo is with Nike at the moment, but it will come to me at some point," he said.

"I hope rather sooner than later, that Nike can be nice and helpful in the process to bring it over to me. It's also something that was very important for me, for the fans really."They are my initials. They are mine."

    Monfils 2-2 Gasquet

It's an all-French affair on Court Two, as Gael Monfils meets Richard Gasquet.

It remains 2-2 on serve early in that one.

    S Williams 1-0 Rus*

Serena Williams hasn't quite found her first serve yet, but she nails a forehand winner that flies through Arantxa Rus for 30-30.

It's windy out on Court One, with Serena having to take her time on her ball toss, but a move to the net and a fiery forehand helps her hold serve first up.

    Wawrinka 1-6 Dimitrov

It's looking very one-sided over on Centre Court.

Stan Wawrinka, making his comeback from injury at Wimbledon, has just lost the opening set of his first-round meeting with sixth seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-1.

A huge cheer for the Swiss when he managed to get on the board, though.

    S Williams v Rus

As for Arantxa Rus, this is her fourth main draw appearance at Wimbledon.

She beat fifth seed Sam Stosur here back in 2012 - the year of her best run at SW19 - but she has lost eight of her 14 first-round matches at a Slam.

She has never played Serena before, and she has just two wins over a top-10 player to her name.

Rus also counts her favourite surface as, er, clay.

This is Serena's 18th main draw appearance at Wimbledon - she's the 25th seed as she continues her return from maternity leave.

She has never lost in the first round at Wimbledon. In fact, she's only lost in the first round at a Slam once, at Roland Garros in 2012.

She has won eight grass-court titles, including Olympic gold at Wimbledon in 2012, which is the most among active players.

This is Serena's first appearance at Wimbledon since 2016, when she beat Angelique Kerber to claim her seventh title at SW19.

Milos Raonic will be very happy with that, in the first set he looked nervous, was finding his feet, was not consistent from the back of the court. But that serve gives him such a foundation to work his way into matches.

After injury troubles he'll be glad to get that one out of the way and will be looking forward to the second round.

  18. Raonic 'feeling fantastic'published at 16:17 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Broady 5-7 0-6 1-6 Raonic

And here is Milos Raonic after his first-round win over Liam Broady: "It was a difficult start, he did a lot of things that kept me off balance, he played a tight game and I got a little bit lucky.

"I started to take control of my serve. It's the first match, I came out with a good attitude and competed well.

"I feel fantastic. You have got to put things into perspective, I am happy to be here playing and have been playing well over the past few weeks.

"I've got to do my best in the next 36 hours or so to give myself the best chance - your body will tell you if it hurts."
