'Have we got a huge upset brewing here' - Larsson wins first set tie-break

Having never won a match at Wimbledon in her seven previous attempts, Sweden's Johanna Larsson has taken the first set against Venus Williams.

Venus served two double faults in the tie-break and missed an easy-looking volley at the net to give her opponent the advantage.

Could we have a shock on the cards?

Twindads: Is there an easier job in tennis than being Roger Federer’s sweatbands?!

Charlene: Routine first round for Roger Federer. Looking good

Mike: Roger Federer is like the Vulcan bomber of tennis. Graceful, majestic but also powerful. I can’t imagine him not winning Wimbledon again this year.

    Broady 2-2 Raonic*

A momentary blip on the Broady service game. He holds, and is going punch for punch with the 13th seed early on.

    *Broady 1-2 Raonic

Liam Broady's got some kick in that serve of his, too.

The left-hander pops one up off the immaculate surface to trouble Milos Raonic, and then gets the better of the rally on the next point.

But all that is followed by a double fault - 40-15.

    *Broady 1-2 Raonic

Milos Raonic is looking formidable on serve. Slap after slap, point after point. Ace after ace.

He holds to love for a second successive service game.

  6. Broady holdspublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Broady 1-1 Raonic*

Early break point chance for Milos Raonic, but Liam Broady mixes up his service game with a slower ball like a Test bowler to catch out the giant Canadian.

The 24-year-old serves out to hold. He's on the board.

  7. Tie-break for Venuspublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Larsson 6-6 V Williams

Two set points saved by Venus, two break points saved by Larsson.

But Venus gets a third break point opportunity, converts it and we are into a tie-break.

    Tracy Austin

Clinical, just the way you want it in the opening round of a slam. Even Roger says he has nerves, he is human, we don’t think of him as that because he’s won so many times.

At 36 it’s is so incredible he’s been able to stay healthy now and playing at such a high level after taking off those six months.

  9. 'I still get nervous here'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Federer 6-1 6-3 6-4 Lajovic

Roger Federer on his first round win against Dusan Lajovic:

"I’m very happy, felt good to from the start which was nice. Last year I struggled early on a lot. I felt right at home, so a really nice feeling. I got the early break in each set and was able to bring it home, and was happy with my focus and point for mentality, it worked well today so I and be happy.

"Of course I get nervous playing here, it started two days ago when I knew the draw, started speaking about it in the press room and being asked about it, which is a good way to get ready for it. You’re just excited. It is a great court so I am privileged, the excitement of the fans is always there."

Big fan of the vest top, Saj? Don't besleeve that for a second.

Back on Court One, Liam Broady has his first points on the Wimbledon scoreboard with a neat backhand down the line and he then edges into a 30-15 lead.

Rafael Nadal knows how to dress for Wimbledon.

I'm a big fan of the vest top and recently wore one in central Manchester, without harassment. None I noted, anyway.

No doubt, the two-time champion can also strut the streets of Spain in similar attire. He certainly looked cool in the white heat during practice.

The King of Clay looked to be loving the conditions, perhaps because soon the ground will be turning to hard clay. Probably.

The number two seed, fresh from victory at Roland Garros, faces Israel's Dudi Sela at 11:30 BST on Tuesday.

    *Broady 0-1 Raonic

Storming start for the big-serving Milos Raonic as he sizzles down a string of ferocious efforts from the line to open with a confident hold.

    *Larsson 6-5 V Williams

Johanna Larsson is going to serve for the opening set against the five-time former champion Venus Williams on court two.

Williams, who has not played much in the build-up to Wimbledon is not looking the most confident out there and the Swede maybe feels she has a chance.

    Broady v Raonic

Up next on Court One is another of the British hopefuls, world number 173 Liam Broady.

It's a bit of a daunting task for the 24-year-old wildcard, as he faces Canadian 13th seed Milos Raonic, who was beaten by Andy Murray in the 2016 Wimbledon final.

Venus has had time away from the tour and she has a lot of distractions away from tennis and that is important for someone like her. There is a lot of pressure on her and Serena and I think having those off-court interests have worked in their favour in terms of their longevity.
