    *Federer 5-3 Struff

Roger Federer serving for the first set.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion dances forward to meet a slightly short ball and fires down a winner, before hammering in an ace.

    Three set points.

    *Federer 5-3 Struff

Roger reaches for a new racquet, that one's already seen enough master strokes to fill a player's highlights reel for the championships.

The new weapon doesn't quite click into gear as Struff sizzles down a couple of meaty serves.

The 28-year-old takes a smart hold.

    Pliskova 3-6 1-4 Buzarnescu

It's a sparse crowd on Court One but that has not bothered Mihaela Buzarnescu one iota. The momentum is with Romanian in the second set after she breaks Karolina Pliskova's serve and then backs it up with a solid service game of her own.

Sho: Feel sorry for Struff there. Literally didn't do anything wrong there and still gets broken. Just the genius of Federer.

Another quick hold for the Swiss, and he's rapidly established a foot hold in this match.

This is where the fatigue sets in for Struff. He is not coming back from two sets down a third time this week.

    *Federer 4-2 Struff

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Having watched Struff for the past five years I have been very impressed with his improvement, his maturity, his professionalism. I think he’s become a much more respected player even though his ranking is a little lower than his career high of a year or so ago. I think he’s a better player than he’s ever been.

    Magnificent. Just, no words...

He might not be his coach anymore, but Stefan Edberg is always welcome in the Federer box.

The Swede, who won Wimbledon himself in 1988 and 1990, is watching on from the seats reserved for the nearest and dearest.

Wonder where the Swede will be watching the big football match tomorrow?

A bit of trivia for you: he's a Leeds United fan. Although I've never seen him in the Old Peacock pub on Elland Road before kick-off...

    Federer 3-2 Struff*

I reckon when Jan-Lennard Struff leaps into a serve he must be topping the 12-foot mark, racquet included... the ball is coming down at Roger Federer from some serious height.

But that is some return from the Swiss, flustering and hounding the German into a mishit as he attempts to approach the net.

Federer slices a backhand deep and follows up with a wonderful forehand winner that kicks up the chalk on the baseline.

    Break point.

    Federer 3-2 Struff*

Ooh, a rare display of frustration from Roger Federer as he just stutters into this third-round meeting. The Swiss finds a meaty serve to get him cooking, complementing it with a whipping forehand winner.

Unbelievable slice on a second serve from Fed and it gets the giant German scuttling, but the top seed holds.

    John McEnroe

Federer is not there with his forehand yet, hasn't been been to step into any with much success. I don't expect that to go on much longer.

Frustration will set in soon even for him if he doesn't find his range.

  14. Pliskova a set downpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

    Pliskova 3-6 1-0 Buzarnescu

Could yet another top 10 seed be heading out?

Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova is in a little bit of trouble on Court One after losing the first set 6-3 to Mihaela Buzarnescu of Romania.

The Czech has held her first service game in the second set, though.

  15. Tsitsipas into the fourth roundpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

    Tsitsipas 6-2 6-1 6-4 Fabbiano

This man could be one to watch out for.

Nineteen-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas has thrashed Thomas Fabbiano in an hour and a half to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time.

He'll play John Isner or Radu Albot next.

    *Federer 2-2 Struff

The Fed fans are out in force against on Centre Court, putting in some serious hours in the queue to bag a seat, no doubt...

They witness a backhand slice from their hero skip just into the tramlines, before Roger Federer brings SW19 to its feet with a marauding forehand winner down the line.

Jan-Lennard Struff cranks through the gears and rattles his way to another hold.

  17. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

    Federer 2-1 Struff*

Bang. Federer's serve is off and running early. A couple of aces help him hold. Wife Mirka and mum and dad don't show any emotion in the crowd. They've seen this all before.

  18. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

    *Federer 1-1 Struff

The serve of the towering Struff will likely test Federer today but perhaps not as much as the man he could have been facing, the giant Ivo Karlovic.

The German grunts his way through a quick service game, banging the ball down into the service box.

  19. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

    Federer 1-0 Struff*

Struff has the cheek to win a couple of points on the Federer serve so the Swiss smashes a serve out wide to take the game.

A smattering of applause from the crowd. They're still recovering from that Serena game earlier.
