    *Mladenovic 5-7 3-4 S. Williams

Massive ace from Serena Williams, that one had so much slice it looked like whipping round and coming back at her. She can't back it up, a double - her third of the day.

Kristina Mladenovic lashes a backhand wide off a kicking second serve. Deuce.

    Eventually Serena holds.

    *V. Williams 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 Bertens

No one looks like breaking serve now. Just when you think Kiki Bertens might blink she blasts another forehand winner.

What a hold from Venus, coming back from 0-30 down. Kiki, we saw the tension in her cheeks.

A heart in mouth moment for Venus Williams but her volley finds the line. She holds. On we go. There'll be no tie-breaks of course.

    Mladenovic 5-7 3-3 S. Williams*

The chair umpire just calms down a hustling, bustling Centre Court crowd as Kristina Mladenovic takes a deep breath before beginning her service game.

She opts for the backhand passer, Serena Williams reaches it but can't get enough purchase and it just trickles off the face of the American's racquet.

Pressure on now, though... 15-30. Serena goes long, and sways around behind the baseline in frustration, before biting her lip.

    Mladenovic holds.

Chance! There was space down the line for Kiki Bertens there but she misses.

    30-30.

  7. Edmund-Djokovic last on Centre on Saturdaypublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 6 July 2018

The Wimbledon organisers are doing their best to avoid a sporting clash on Saturday - Kyle Edmund's third-round match against Novak Djokovic is the third match on Centre Court tomorrow.

That means England's World Cup quarter-final against Sweden should be finished by the time Edmund takes to the court - unless we're 'treated' to extra-time and penalties again!

The full Centre Court schedule from 13:00 BST is:

Alex De Minaur v Rafael Nadal

    Angelique Kerber v Naomi Osaka

A puff of chalk. Bertens finds the line with a winner.

Now a double fault from Venus.

    Is this the moment?

    0-30

    *V. Williams 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 5-6 Bertens

Another drop shot from Kiki Bertens helps her through. I'd have been twitching all over the place playing a shot like that under this pressure but the Dutch player was rock solid.

It's back over to Venus again.

Wrist-shattering power on serve from Serena Williams. She steams to a love hold.

    Mladenovic 5-7 2-2 S. Williams*

This is turning into a massive game in the course of this match, you feel.

Kristina Mladenovic coaxes a superb drop volley narrowly over the tape to establish advantage, only to then go long again off the power of a Serena Williams groundstroke.

Serena rattles a backhand return into the ropes. Mladenovic holds.

    V. Williams 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 5-5 Bertens*

Venus doesn't flinch. A relatively comfortable hold. She turns and asks for a towel.

No one is moving on Court One now.

    *Mladenovic 5-7 1-2 S. Williams

Sloppy from the seven-time Wimbledon champ, allowing Kristina Mladenovic to recover only for the Frenchwoman to flop long from the baseline.

    Deuce.

    *Mladenovic 5-7 1-2 S. Williams

Big miss from Kristina Mladenovic on the overhead, she sprawls into a volley like a helicopter and slices into the gutter.

The Frenchwoman clips the net to get Williams scrambling, the American reaches it and Mladenovic scoops wide. She then stabs a backhand long.

Break point Serena, she could do with a few more of these that helped her take the first set...

Traffic on the walkway between the media centre (on the left)and court 14 is about the same pace as the M62 at Friday rush hour.

That’s because everyone wandering past Cameron Norrie and Jay Clarke’s doubles is stopping to rubber neck on their way to Henman Hill (which you can see at the top of the pic).

The British pair save three match points to the delight of the partisan crowd.

    On we go...

Easy as that. Kiki Bertens holds to 15. She has been in this situation before but once again she is a game away from victory.

Unlike the last time though, this one is on Venus Williams' serve rather than her own.

US Ryder Cup golfer Matt Kuchar is in the house. Somehow, everybody on the ‘international balcony’ avoided shouting “Kuuuuuch!” as the Ryder Cup golfer walked past.

    This is Wimbledon after all.

Venus looks to the skies. She has the game at her mercy after a poor drop shot from Kiki Bertens but makes a mess of it and dumps the ball in the net.

    Deuce again.
