Pliskova is going nowhere. She gets a fourth break point with an excellent return but Hsieh gets lucky with a backhand slice which just skips off the surface.

Hsieh then pulls off a brilliant drop shot and a big serve digs her out of trouble. A big, big hold.

Again, Hsieh sprays slices into each corner and Pliskova's backhand droops into the cords. The Czech misses the volley at the net but Hsieh's forehand doesn't get over the other side.

Pliskova charges up to 30-0 thanks to an unforced error from Hsieh. The third seed then slumps a return into the net but brings up two break points with a decent forehand.

Hsieh saves both as she dictates the play and sends Pliskova running from corner to corner. But the Czech bites back and gets a third break point.

    *Anderson 4-6 0-3 Pella

    Well, well, well.

Argentine 26th seed Guido Pella is taking control of his match on Centre Court.

Fourth seed Kevin Anderson hadn't been broken at Wimbledon before this match and now it's happened twice in a row! An entertaining rally ends as the South African hits a forehand long, letting Pella go ahead.

The 29-year-old then holds to love against the 2018 Wimbledon finalist.

  9. Hawk-Eye 'not in ideal place'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Wozniacki 4-6 2-6 Zhang

Caroline Wozniacki was upset by several Hawk-Eye rulings as she exited the competition in straight sets to Zhang Shuai earlier.

"I thought there were a few ones that I saw way differently. But it is what it is. You can't really change a Hawk-Eye call," said the Dane. "Maybe it was right. I just saw it differently.

"He (the umpire) saw it differently and the linesmen saw it differently, as well. But then again, there's nothing you can do about it. It is what it is."

    Q. Did he suggest they get someone to look at it? Did he indicate to you maybe for the next match?

"That's what he said, for the next match. Well, I don't have a next match, so..."

    Q. Would you like Hawk-Eye and the All England Club to look into the Hawk-Eye replays on your match?

"I mean, at this point it doesn't matter. It is what it is. Maybe the Hawk-Eye was right. Maybe I just saw it wrong. I don't know.

"But you trust Hawk-Eye normally. You trust that it tells you the right thing. Sometimes you do see the balls a little differently than what the Hawk-Eye is. At least you know, okay, you can get it out of your mind."I do believe that it was not in the ideal place today."

    Pliskova 6-3 2-4 Hsieh*

An eighth ace brings up 30-0 for Pliskova before Hsieh hits a nice forehand winner. The Czech breaks through the defence with a lovely backhand slice as she tip-toes towards the net.

But Hsieh, who returns with a bit of a face plant shot, then cracks a backhand down the line! Pliskova holds, eventually, with a cross-court backhand.

    Anderson 4-6 Pella

Not the way you would have expected the first set to go on Centre.

Fourth seed Kevin Anderson had two break points on two occasions, but it is Argentine Guido Pella who gets the first break at a crucial moment to go a set up. He didn't manage to close it out until the fourth set point though.
