    *Murray/Herbert 7-6 (7-4) 1-2 Mektic/Skugor

Pierre-Hugues Herbert looks about half of his 28 years. You'd expect to see the gangly, floppy-haired Frenchman greeting you off the ferry on a school exchange trip rather than lining up alongside British tennis royalty Andy Murray in the doubles at Wimbledon.

Murray whispers to his partner, raises a ball to the sky and then sizzles down a serve.

    15-0.

  3. Tsonga's tough time of itpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Tsonga 0-0 Nadal*

Tsonga, now 34, has been through a tricky patch in the past two years having once been world number five and as high as seven in 2017

He played only 12 matches in 2018, missing three Grand Slams with a knee injury, which led to his singles ranking plummeting to 262.

A title win in Montpellier in February helped him move back up the rankings.

    He's now number 72.

  4. Stephens holdspublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Stephens 0-1 *Konta

We are straight into a right-old tussle as Sloane Stephens cracks just wide in a baseline rally to offer up a first break point at 30-40.

Johanna Konta dusts off the lesser-spotted backhand drop-shot. It does not not quite make it despite Konta's helpful little hop.

The net swallows it up and that is Konta's shot at an early break gone.

  5. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Murray/Herbert 7-6 (7-4) 1-1 Mektic/Skugor*

Andy Murray looks very comfortable returning serve, skipping from foot to foot just behind the baseline. That is until Mektic rips one day with added venom. Zing. 30-30.

    Murray/Herbert 7-6 (7-4) 1-1 Mektic/Skugor*

Lovely stuff from France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert as he rattles to a love hold.

  7. Stephens to servepublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Stephens v Konta

The bookies have Johanna Konta as odds-on favourite with Sloane Stephens as a 13-8 outsiders.

Seems a little favourable to Konta. Let's see. Stephens to tee us off.

A standing ovation from all those who didn't need the loo after Ashleigh Barty's win as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Rafael Nadal make their way onto Centre Court.

Four years have passed since these two last met - a Tsonga victory on that occasion on the hard courts of Shanghai.

But this is their first meeting at Wimbledon and only their second on grass.

  9. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    *Murray/Herbert 7-6 (7-4) 0-1 Mektic/Skugor

Brilliant. Andy Murray, on the swivel, back-pedals before slamming a forehand winner down the tramlines - but it doesn't stop the Croatian pair taking an opening hold in the second set.

    Konta v Stephens

Johanna Konta's recent pedigree from meetings with Sloane Stephens is 'Best in Show' quality.

They have met three times already this year and Konta has dropped just one set on the way to three victories.

Stephens' best run at Wimbledon was making the quarters in 2013, but has won her first two matches in this campaign in straight-sets and double-quick time.

The American is ranked ninth in the world, Konta is 18th.

  11. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Tsonga v Nadal

Huge smile from Tsonga as he walks out on to the Centre Court turf while Nadal looks to have used top-dollar washing powder as he comes out in the whitest of whites.

    Dazzling.

  12. Game and first set - Herbert & Murraypublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Murray/Herbert 7-6 (7-4) Mektic/Skugor*

And there it is, at the second time of asking... Andy Murray's thumping forehand is too hot to handle for Franko Skugor as he deflects it long. Bingo.

Serena Williams after reaching the last 16: "It's been an arduous year for me so every match I'm trying to improve. Every time I go out there I try. I'm getting a really late start, but I try."

On playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray later, she told BBC Sport: "I've only played about 15 matches this year. There's such a buzz around about me and Andy, I'm getting a bit of performance anxiety! I hope I can live up to the hype."
