    *Murray/Herbert 6-6 (2-2) Mektic/Skugor

Ouchy! That could've been trouble for Herbert as he just about manages to hit the brakes when sliding off the court before clattering into the umpire's chair. Murray to serve at 1-2 in the tie-break, and he levels up with a grunting smash at the net.

    Williams 6-3 6-4 Gorges

Gorges does win one point in memorable style, coming in to the net to finish it with a flourish. That's not nearly enough to dig her out of this hole, though.

Serena seals her victory with a smash. Her serving was sublime, and her groundstrokes weren't bad either.

"This was a real statement match by Serena," says Tracy Austin. "She elevated her game from rounds one and two - she has played so few matches this year which is why she was so rusty in the earlier rounds."

    Barty 6-1 6-1 Dart

Ashleigh Barty speaking to BBC Sport: "It was really good. I felt I served really well when I needed to. It was best that I could to get a good start before getting the ball rolling.

"I think today I was able to overpower Harriet. A lot of games could have gone either way especially early on.

"Harriet will have a fantastic career and I'm sure Centre will be her favourite court.

"It's incredible to be here, it's new territory to be here in second week."

Joel Newnham: Harriet needs more matches on big stages with top players

    Barty 6-1 6-1 Dart

    Sam Smith
Former British number one on BBC TV

The good thing, from Harriet's perspective, is when you've played the best player in the world, everyone else then seems easier.

That was a ruthless performance from Barty. It's old school tennis with a modern twist.

Franko Skugor might look a Bond villain - but he's a big softie really. The concrete-jawed Croatian shows his sensitive side by checking a spectator is unharmed after he frames an attempted return and the ball smacks the poor fan.

  8. Serena serving for the matchpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Williams 6-3 5-4 Gorges

Another solid service game for Gorges. It's make-or-break on the Williams serve for her next, though.

    Murray/Herbert 6-5 Mektic/Skugor*

Ooof, a line judge risks the wrath of the British tennis king. Murray's serve is called "out", but he challenges and Hawk-Eye shows it just flirted with the chalk. That's 40-0.

And then the game for the Scottish-French duo.

    Williams 6-3 5-3 Gorges

Gorges has actually served pretty well today. It's just a shame for her that Serena has served exceptionally well.

Two aces from Williams help her hold with ease, yet again.

"She just has too much power," says Tracy Austin in the commentary box.
