Fourth seed Kiki Bertens is already a break up on the Czech world 54 Barbora Strycova, leading 2-1 in the opening set.

Belgium's Elise Mertens and China's Qiang Wang are on serve in the third set at 2-2 after the latter took a second-set tie-back 11-9.

American Tenys Sandgren has taken the first set off Italy's Fabio Fognini. He leads 6-3 1-2 and has never been to the last 16 at Wimbledon before.

    Murray/Herbert 2-1 Mektic/Skugor*

Saved! In pretty emphatic fashion by Skugor. A thumping, leaping ace, followed by another meaty serve before Murray's rip-roaring return brings it back to deuce.

    Murray/Herbert 2-1 Mektic/Skugor*

Nikola Mektic gives a little behind-the-back finger signal to Franko Skugor before the Croatian serves - imagine it says "please don't hit me".

But the Murray-Herbert combo read it, and edge their way to a first break point.

  4. Serena serving for the first setpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Williams 5-3 Gorges

"Serena looks a completely different player to the one we saw in round two," says Tracy Austin. "Gorges is going to have to raise her level, because Serena is not letting her into any of these points."

The German does exactly that here. Serena still finds a fizzing forehand winner with one return, but that is the only point she takes from the Gorges serve this time.

Still, Serena serves for the first set next...

    Barty 3-0 Dart*

Barty is one of the best 'wrong-footers' in the game at the moment.

She does that to Dart to make it 15s each before the Brit fails to send her backhand slice over the net.

    15-30.

    Barty 3-0 Dart*

15-15 but then Barty inexplicably whips a forehand in between the train tracks.

No worries as the French Open champion stays composed to hold once again.

We've only played for 10 minutes and Barty is 3-0 up.

Strong start for Murray on his service game - unlike the other day when he couldn't buy a first serve in the early stages.

Sir Andrew lands three first serves to rock the Croatians, topped by that rocket of an ace.

  8. Serena steps things uppublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Williams 5-2 Gorges

I spoke too soon. Gorges had been serving immaculately since saving those early break points, but she is in trouble here - Serena targeting her forehand with some deep and powerful returns that take her to 15-40.

Can Serena get the break? Yes. She repeats the tactic, and Gorges is on the back-foot and cannot rescue herself this time.

No chance of Serena letting this advantage slip in the next game, either. She is all over the court to hoover up any loose shots and holds to love, meaning she only needs one more game to take this first set.

  9. Murray holdspublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Murray/Herbert 2-1 Mektic/Skugor*

A first sight of the classic Murray fist-bump signals a successful hold of serve for the Scottish-French duo. So far, so steady.

    *Barty 2-0 Dart

Not quite sure what happened there.

Dart looked comfortable pre-Red Arrows and then it all fell apart somewhat.

An error from close to the net hands the world number one an early break.

    *Murray/Herbert 1-1 Mektic/Skugor

Right Andy, whatcha got? The baseball-capped Scot slams his opening serve into the net and nearly rips partner Herbert's head off.

The second is good and he's up and running for the match.

Even the Red Arrows want to see Any Murray. An unexpected fly-by grounds Nikola Mektic as he's tossing the ball to serve.

'Oooohs' and 'aaahs' greet the world famous aerial display team as they zoom over the top of court two.

A trail of British red, white and blue brings a bit patriotic colour to the match involving nation's favourite tennis son.

    Barty 1-0 Dart*

    Great baselining from The Dart.

A low forehand deceives Barty who stretches to try to pick up.

    40-30.

    Deuce.

    Then a double fault.

    Crikey!

    Barty 1-0 Dart*

It's 15-15 but there's then a big cheer for the Red Arrows which no doubt Dart appreciated as she tried to deliver her next serve in her first service game.

    Williams 3-2 Gorges

Both players solid as a rock on serve so far. Gorges giving as good as she gets.

    Murray/Herbert 1-0 Mektic/Skugor*

Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Andy Murray rattle to a quick hold, although a screamer of a return that whistled beyond the Scot from Franko Skugor got one of the biggest cheers so far.

  17. 'Barty never tires'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Barty 1-0 Dart*

    Sam Smith

Barty is an outstanding athlete. She never gets tired.

She has a big engine - she's one of those who could run a marathon without even training for it.

    Barty 1-0 Dart*

    Barty holds with an ace.

An easy hold for the Aussie, tbf.

The first raucous shout of, "C'mon Harriet" echoes around Centre.

    Was that you Joe Root?

  19. 'Dart must settle quickly'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    *Barty 0-0 Dart

    Sam Smith
Former British number one on BBC TV

Harriet doesn't have the biggest game - but talk about being gutsy.

She served very well in her second round against Haddad Maia, but I think this is about attitude.

There's only really one area where you can get at Barty and that's hitting hard and fast into her backhand.

What will be important is settling down quickly out here. Dart is a very tough kid, she'll keep her chin up and I think the Centre Court crowd will really like her.

    *Barty 0-0 Dart

Dart wins the first point - good start - before Barty starts her party with an angled forehand that is too good for the Brit.

    15-15.
