  2. 'I'm convinced Andy will return'published at 19:08 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Williams/Murray v Mies/Guarachi

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

On whether Andy Murray will make a return to singles tennis:

I very much hope so, I think I'm convinced actually.

Andy is testing the water. He had no problem in a best of five in the doubles this morning which is still quite demanding.

I think we'll see him back in the singles - and I very much hope so.

    Williams/Murray v Mies/Guarachi

    Ready?

Andy Murray and Serena Williams are playing mixed doubles at Wimbledon for the first time ever and...

... the closest Murray came to a major mixed doubles title was at London 2012 when he and partner Laura Robson claimed silver after they were beaten by Victoria Azarenka and...

... Max Mirnyi who along with Serena Williams won the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 1998.

    Williams/Murray v Mies/Guarachi

Now. This is Andy Murray's last chance of a title at this year's Wimbledon having seen his men's doubles hopes dashed earlier.

    • How well will both Murray and Williams communicate?
    • Who will take the lead?
    • Is this the best pairing since salted caramel and ice cream?

The pairs walk out on to the court, no guesses as to which duo the cheers are directed at.

  8. Evans breakspublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    *Evans 6-4 4-6 4-3 Sousa

Superb scampering, scurrying defence from Dan Evans. Murray-esque determination to get across the court.

It forces one more shot and the surprising error from Sousa.

    He is ahead once more.

    Federer 7-5 6-2 7-6 (7-4) Pouille

Federer is the first man or woman to make it 350 singles Grand Slam wins. Typically, he played down his achievements in his post-match interview, saying that previous generations didn't play every Slam because it was too far to travel.

Meanwhile, the Centre Court crowd made even more noise when they found out Andy Murray and Serena Williams were the next match on. I think a few people are looking forward to this...

  12. Sousa breakspublished at 18:58 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Evans 6-4 4-6 3-3 *Sousa

Dan Evans saves the first break point but cannot do anything about the second as a Joao Sousa cross-court forehand screams across court.

Evans gets a racquet to it but cannot pat it into play.

    Federer 7-5 6-2 7-6 (7-4) Pouille

Pouille has given him a decent run for his money, especially in this tie-break, but Federer has never looked in trouble and he was not to be denied.

The eight-time champion clenches his fist in triumph as Pouille dumps a forehand into the net on match-point. That's Federer's 350th Grand Slam singles win - and his 98th at Wimbledon. He's also into the fourth round for a record 17th time.

    *Evans 6-4 4-6 3-2 Sousa

Dan Evans is pushing buttons and probing for a second break at 0-30 up.

Joao Sousa to the net, begging for a trademark Evans cascade lob, but the Briton cannot find it. 30-30.

And the Portuguese sees out the game with an ace that splits the T.

    Chance missed for Evans.

  18. Evans holdspublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Evans 6-4 4-6 3-1 *Sousa

Dan Evans lets out a cry of frustration as he duffs a volley straight at Joao Sousa at 30-15 up, he is premature though.

Sousa hits straight back at him and he can find the backhand angle for the winner.

Sousa is wide in the next rally. Game.

    Federer 7-5 6-2 6-6 (4-2) Pouille

A fine Fed forehand return gives him the second point too and two stinging serves from the Swiss keep him on top at the changeover, despite a wild backhand just before he sat down.

  20. Postpublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Federer 7-5 6-2 6-6 (1-0) Pouille

Pouille is still running, still fighting, still believing, and he even has a few fans in Centre Court... but he's suddenly making a lot of mistakes. A loose forehand flies wide and Federer has a first match-point... saved, by an ace.

More spirited stuff from Pouille, and a couple of big serves later, and we are heading for a third-set tie-break.

Fed will get us started... and he takes the first point.
