    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Medvedev has the ability mentally to cope with the environment and the opponent. He plays fearlessly, his winning streak is ridiculous given the calibre of the players he has beaten. It's an astonishing record so his confidence is as good as it can possibly be. He really is an exceptional talent.

Despite their varying levels of experience this match is too close to call.

There are a lot of reasons to think Medvedev can make a big breakthrough.

Anukram Adhikary: Given their similar playing styles, I am backing Medvedev to win against Djokovic provided: (1) He serves as well as he did in the semis and (2) He makes as less errors as he did in the game against Tsitsipas.

Daniil Medvedev on Novak Djokovic: "I know that to beat him you need to just show your best tennis, be at your best physically maybe four or five hours, and be at your best mentally maybe for five hours.

"When he's in the zone he doesn't miss. He goes down the line, cross, forehand, backhand, he doesn't miss. That's what is the most, the toughest part of playing against him."

Novak Djokovic may lead the head-to-head, but it's Daniil Medvedev who has won three of their past four meetings.

He has won 12 matches in a row against top-10 opponents, including Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem.

Like women's champion Naomi Osaka, the Russian is on a 20-match unbeaten streak going into today's final.

He has Grand Slam final experience too, having come so close to pulling off a comeback win against Nadal in the US Open final of 2019.

Novak Djokovic on Daniil Medvedev: "He has a big serve. For a tall guy, he moves extremely well. Forehand maybe was his weaker shot, but he has improved that as well. Backhand is as good as it gets.

"He's so solid. He doesn't give you much. But he's not afraid nowadays to attack and get to the net and take it to his opponents."

Novak Djokovic has made the trip to the Australian Open final eight times - and walked away with the trophy each time.

Victory today would see him clinch his 18th major title, just two behind Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal.

An abdominal injury has made this run to the final harder than before, but the Serb said he was "pain free" in his semi-final win over Aslan Karatsev.
