Kecmanovic goes long. Another chance for Evans to save a game he looked buried in...

Ah. He hits the net, and sends his racquet flying in frustration.

Evans is desperate to get over the line here. Kecmanovic smells a big opportunity as he moves to break point...

And the Serb takes it! Big, big problems for Evans now.

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 6-3 3-2 Evans*

    Brilliant recovery from Evans!

He makes it to deuce from 40-0 down before a poor miss by Kecmanovic, who had the whole court to aim for, fails to sneak over the net.

Evans can't take his first chance and is brought back to deuce.

    This feels crucial.

Kecmanovic is three games away from causing an upset, which I think we can say with Evans' recent form on clay.

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 6-3 3-2 Evans*

Evans looked great at the start of the fourth set but this is not going to plan

    Three break points for Kecmanovic.

    What can Evans do here?

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 6-3 3-2 Evans*

Kecmanovic pushes Evans back into a corner and there's little the Briton can do as his return hits the net to send him 40-0 down.

A rare hold never looked in doubt there, and for the first time in this set Kecmanovic leads.

Evans desperately needs to respond with a hold of his own here.

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 6-3 2-2 Evans

Kecmanovic leaves Evans with no chance of catching an inch-perfect cross-court forehand on his way to establishing a 30-15 advantage.

Under pressure, Evans finds the net and all of a sudden it's two break points to the Serb.

Evans battles to save the first, but there's no stopping that! Kecmanovic slides across to his right and slams a forehand down the line to pull level in this fourth set.

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 6-3 1-2 Evans*

For the first time in a while, it feels as though Evans is on top. Some excellent defensive play by the Brit is rewarded as Kecmanovic goes long, handing over a break point in the process.

A groan from Evans as he fails to take it, and another closely fought game is taken to deuce.

And, after a fourth deuce, it's the Serb who makes it count when it matters to record an important hold of serve.

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 6-3 0-2 Evans

The crowd are enjoying this tussle, as Evans fights to keep his hopes of a first main-draw win at the French Open alive.

Kecmanovic takes a 30-15 lead, but a re-energised Evans flips the advantage.

The game turns on its head once more as Evans finds the net - but, faced with break point, the Briton draws Kecmanovic to the net before unleashing a fierce backhand winner.

The battle rumbles on, Kecmanovic finding the line to deny Evans a 2-0 lead, but there is no let-up and Evans consolidates his early fourth-set advantage with a cracking forehand down the line.

Dominic Thiem is now two sets to the good against Pablo Andujar after winning the second 7-5.

And it was a topsy-turvy one, with five breaks of serve between the pair, Thiem ultimately taking it on his second set point.

One more and the Austrian fourth seed is into the second round.

    "Come on!"

Dan Evans needs a positive start to this fourth set and he lets out a cheer as he lands a fine winner to move 30-15 up.

Kecmanovic responds, but a complete mis-hit allows Evans a welcomed break point opportunity.

And he takes it! The Serb can't get to his low shot into the back corner. Just what Evans needed.

This has been by far the most entertaining set so far.

  13. Game and third set - Kecmanovicpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 6-3 0-0 Evans

Can Evans capitalise on that lifeline?

He does well to pick his spot and make 30-30, and again to respond after another quality forehand from Kecmanovic to save break point.

The Serb is dominating from the baseline now though, and he gets stuck into Evans' serve once again to finish off another impressive set to complete the turnaround.

The British number one has it all to do now.

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 5-3 Evans*

    Hope for Evans.

He forces Kecmanovic to defend before picking out the corner to set up two break points.

And Kecmanovic fluffs a shot wide of the mark to give away an easy break of serve.

Evans is still alive in this set.

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 5-2 Evans

Miomir Kecmanovic will now serve for the third set.

It would represent an impressive comeback considering how he began this match.

  16. 'Needs to keep looking for that forehand'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Evo needs to keep looking for that forehand.

He needs to use his slice backhand up the line He's getting dragged into these backhand cross-court rallies and Kecmanovic is able to pull the trigger and be the more aggressive of the two.

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 5-2 Evans

Can Evans apply some pressure and begin to turn the tide? At 30-15 down, a simple volley is there to be executed but agonisingly he misses the line.

Kecmanovic forces break point but Evans isn't making the same mistake again and buries his next volley for deuce.

The Serb is unable to make another break opportunity as he overhits a forehand, and Evans pushes him back with a powerful stroke to survive another.

The British number one holds firm under sustained pressure but, struggling to create a chance of his own, he eventually runs out of lives.

An eighth break point of the game falls to Kecmanovic and Evans hits the net.

  18. Another upset brewing?published at 14:00 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Minnen 7-6 (7-3) Kvitova

Handy on the quick clay of Stuttgart and Madrid, but two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova is struggling a little in Paris as Belgium's Greet Minnen edges the 11th seed 7-6 (7-3) in the first set.

Kvitova, 31, was a semi-finalist last year so this would count as an upset if she is bundled out.

    Kecmanovic 1-6 6-3 4-2 Evans*

A marathon game, but Evans comes out on top.

Evans hits a return wide to fall 30-0 down, but he guides a backhand across the court to draw level before setting up a break point.

The Briton can't take it, nor the next one as he hits the net to bring us back to deuce.

But he digs deep, smashing a volleyed winner. Will it be third time lucky? To his frustration, no, Kecmanovic clings on. But Evans eventually gets the job done with a forehand winner.

We're at 4-2. Evans to serve...

    Kecmanovic* 1-6 6-3 4-1 Evans

Evans is being much more vocal in celebrating his points now.

He's trying to get himself pumped up for the fight, but Kecmanovic delivers an immediate suckerpunch.

He finds the line superbly with a forehand - the kind of shot he just couldn't execute in the first set - to take a 4-1 lead in the third.
