    Kecmanovic* 1-6 2-0 Evans

Evans is unhappy with something. He may have received a time violation there...

He needs to keep his cool, as Kecmanovic is beginning to find his rhythm now too.

The Serb moves 40-0 ahead and Evans is under pressure as he hits a first serve into the net - but he saves the first break point.

He must save another on a second serve, however, and Kecmanovic isn't letting this one go.

The youngster sends a back-hand whizzing past the Brit to go 2-0 up in the second set.

Before this season Evans was very open that before, he and clay did not get on at all.

He's already had 11 matches, semi-final of Monte Carlo, beating Novak Djokovic along the way.

Evans pumps his fist and it's a dream start, taking the first set 6-1

  5. Game and first set - Evanspublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Kecmanovic 1-6 Evans

A poor miss from Kecmanovic denies him the chance of break-point.

From there, Evans makes no mistakes.

A well executed volley takes him to set-point, before a delicious slice seals the deal.

    Kecmanovic 1-5 Evans*

Much better on serve initially from Kecmanovic, but at 40-0 down Evans is able to draw the Serb to the net before firing a bullet past him to get on the board.

Just as Kecmanovic thinks he's edging towards his first game of the match, pulls Evans back another couple of points to make deuce and leave the Serb scratching his head.

Both players have chances to take the game, before Kecmanovic gets a much needed boost as he gets the better of Evans in a rally when it matters, finding the far corner to take the game.

Evans to serve for the first set.

    Kecmanovic* 0-5 Evans

Blimey. Some great stuff from Dan Evans.

He races into a 40-0 lead before hitting wide after a good return from Kecmanovic.

But Evans gets to the net quickly to place the ball neatly beyond the Serb's reach and tie up another game. Dominant performance.

    Kecmanovic 0-4 Evans*

It's just not happening for Miomir Kecmanovic so far. Another error from a wayward forehand hands Evans a 40-15 lead.

The Serb initially responds, but he's then run ragged by Evans at the back of the court and there only looked like there was ever going to be one winner there.

Evans goes 4-0 up in the first set and he's barely broken a sweat.

    Kecmanovic* 0-3 Evans

Evans looks like he means business today and makes a promising start to go 30-0 ahead.

But a sliced shot finds the net, before a powerful hit by Kecmanovic forces Evans deep and he can't find the line.

Unfazed, Evans makes a lovely shot past the Serb to go 40-30 up.

Kecmanovic is able to force deuce, but the Briton's quick footwork gets him to the net for a volley and Evans sees out the third game to take firm control of this opening set.

    Kecmanovic 0-2 Evans*

A double-fault by Kecmanovic allows Evans to take a 30-15 lead, but a confidence-boosting drop shot brings the Serb back level.

Another baseline rally sees Kecmanovic go long and hands Evans a break-point... and he takes it!

The perfect start for the British number one.

    Kecmanovic* 0-1 Evans

Evans hits wide to hand Kecmanovic the opening point, but the Serb is unable to apply the pressure as he finds the net before Evans takes charge.

A solid forehand sets Evans up for 40-15, and the Briton is able to take control of a baseline rally to comfortably take the first game.

Miomir Kecmanovic has lost in the opening round in each of his last three tournaments, since losing to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-final of the Serbia Open.

  15. In-form Evans 'not losing sleep'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Kecmanovic v Evans

Evans says he did not "lose any sleep" over comments made by other players, after Dominic Thiem suggested Evans one was among those to benefit from fewer outside temptations because of quarantine rules at tournaments during the Covid pandemic.

"According to him, I must be out a lot, partying a lot. I'm doing all right outside of the bubble too," he said.

"I'm sure it was meant in the nicest way possible, but I would say Thiem has done pretty well in the bubble himself, as he won his first Grand Slam in a bubble."

    Tig 4-6 6-7 (4-7) Osaka

First up, Osaka is asked about the renovations of Phillippe Chatrier. All the big questions.

"I'm really glad that I won. It's a beautiful court. I've only played two matches here, one before the roof and one now so hopefully I'll keep it going."

Asked about how she adapts her play to the clay, she said: "It's a work in progress. Hopefully the more I play the better I play."

Great length from Osaka on the next point and she now has two match points.

She only needs one. A backhand in the middle of the court does the job.
