    Tig 4-6 6-6 Osaka

Tig can't properly reach an Osaka backhand and the four-time Grand Slam champion goes 4-2 up. Change of serve.

Tig then sends a forehand too long and there's another "c'mon" from Osaka as she moves to 5-2. Osaka then does the same and it's 5-3.

An Osaka backhand into the net and she's letting Tig back into this one.

Tig* 4-5 Osaka in the tie-break.

    Kecmanovic v Evans

It's almost time for Dan Evans to begin his French Open campaign.

The British number one will be aiming to continue his fine form in 2021 as he takes on Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic over on court six.

Paula Badosa has just beaten Lauren Davis, so they'll be on shortly.

    Tig 4-6 6-6 Osaka

First point to Osaka, before she half-heartedly bangs a return into the net. 1-1.

A brazen serve from Tig then lands a fraction out, she goes to check it with the chair umpire. She gets the next point but scuppers the one after, flopping a backhand between the tramlines.

Tig* 2-3 Osaka in the tie-break.

    Tig 4-6 6-6 Osaka

A lovely, controlled winner from Naomi Osaka off a spinning drop shot from Patricia Maria Tig kicks this game off, but Tig levels.

More brilliant exchanges between the two bring up 30-30, before a magnificent forehand across court from Osaka takes us to deuce.

Osaka then gets her first match point. Can she capitalise? Nope. Epic play from Tig with a bold forehand down the line.

A ROAR from the Romanian as she gets the advantage next, some really great work from her. Until, that is, she sends a forehand into the tramlines. Hands on hips.

She gets it the next time with a lovely lob. Tie-break time.

    Kalinina 6-2 6-4 Kerber

A Grand Slam remains elusive for 26th seed Angelique Kerber. The three-time Grand Slam champion has been beaten by world number 139 Anhelina Kalinina 6-2 6-4.

Ukraine's Kalinina had never made it past qualifying until now. Now she takes out a former world number one.

Kerber, 33, has reached the quarter-finals here twice, but this is the German's third successive exit in the first round.

    Tig* 4-6 5-6 Osaka

Naomi Osaka handles some tricky play expertly to battle through to 40-0. An easy love-hold and the pressure returns to the shoulders of Patricia Maria Tig.

    Tig 4-6 5-5 Osaka*

Patricia Maria Tig is serving to stay in the game. After a shaky start, she pulls it back to 40-15. Osaka's not happy as she marches back to the baseline, after she slams a backhand into the net from metres out when she really should have capitalised on that opportunity.

Tig holds on the next point.

    Tig* 4-6 4-5 Osaka

Some unlikely hesitancy from Naomi Osaka as she sends a backhand into the tramlines.

Patricia Maria Tig then scuppers a chance to move to 30-15, coming in towards the net before sending her return flying off-court. She might come to rue that one.

Osaka goes on to hold 40-15. She's one game away from the second round.

    Tig 4-6 4-4 Osaka*

Patricia Maria Tig's serves are so inviting for Naomi Osaka. Better from the Romanian to go 40-15 up as she sends an ace crashing into the corner.

She continues to play tough, and takes the hold as Osaka flops a forehand into the net.

Nothing to separate these two in this set so far.

    Tig* 4-6 3-4 Osaka

Some delightful THWACKS coming off Osaka's racquet. Some quality hits from her today.

She's dominant as she breezes to 40-15, before Tig tries to return a brilliant serve but her backhand can only find the net.

    Tig 4-6 3-3 Osaka*

Some good exchanges between the two in this game, Tig sending Osaka stretching to move 30-15 up.

She goes on to hold with just that one dropped point.

    Tig* 4-6 2-3 Osaka

A few errors creep in from Naomi Osaka, there's a little reaction from her as she throws her head back and stares up into the blue Paris skies. She's been very cool and composed so far.

At 30-30, she asserts her dominance with a nicely-placed backhand winner, sliding in towards the net.

She goes long on the next point though and looks a tad frustrated as we move to deuce. A shake of the head from Tig as she messes up a return from an inviting serve, and Osaka goes on to hold.

    Tig 4-6 2-2 Osaka*

An early double-fault from Tig but her blushes are saved as Osaka then sends a wayward backhand flying.

At 15-15, Tig's second serve is oh so inviting for Osaka, the easiest of winners for the world number two.

She scrambles back to 30-30, but then bows her head as she once again attempts a drop shot, only for it to flop into the net. Break point Naomi Osaka...but she can't take this one as she also finds the net with a backhand.

A lucky Tig then gets the advantage and Osaka can't deal with her second serve.

  15. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Tig* 4-6 1-2 Osaka

A few costly mistakes from Tig as a very composed Osaka cruises through her service game with only one point dropped.

  16. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 30 May 2021

    Tig 4-6 1-1 Osaka*

Super movement from Patricia Maria Tig to breeze to 30-0 up, but a pump of the first from Naomi Osaka as she takes the next point. Tig then can't deal with an Osaka forehand return, sending it spinning off into the first few rows of the crowd. Well, seats...there aren't many fans in at the moment.

Tig holds with some really aggressive play, careering towards the net before unleashing a powerful forehand winner.

    Tig* 4-6 0-1 Osaka

A comfortable hold for Naomi Osaka in this first game of the second set. Much better than her last service game, that's for sure.

    Tig 4-6 Osaka*

"C'MON" shouts Osaka as she goes 30-0 up on Tig's serve. Much better from the Japanese.

Another "C'MON" as she moves to break point and set point with a superbly clean forehand.

She takes it with a fantastic winner from the net. Breaks to love and that's the set.

Elsewhere at Roland Garros, three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber is in a spot of bother early on as Ukrainian world number 139 Anhelina Kalinina takes the first set 6-2.
