    What. A. Start.

The crowd cheers for long enough that you'd think he'd won the match and Norrie gives them a fist pump and a roar in response.

Norrie sent Djokovic wide with his backhand. The Serb just about gets there but Norrie then passes him at the net.

    Huge.

    Ooft.

Norrie's backhand goes long and that's one break point lost.

Tim Henman said on BBC One earlier that a good start will be crucial for Norrie. An opening break wouldn't be too bad...

Massive roar from the home fans as they cheer Cam Norrie out of his seat.

Seconds later the decibel meter goes even further north when he wins the first two points of the match.

That is followed by a second or four of excited chatter which borders on the surprised.

    Here they come!

Cameron Norrie strides first out of the Centre Court doors which, these days, part like a game show set revealing a new contestant.

Opportunity knocks for the British number one.

Novak Djokovic, someone who has done this walk to a Wimbledon semi-final on 11 previous occasions, coolly wanders out behind.

  14. Hewett broken early in deciderpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    *Fernandez 6-2 6-7 (3-7) 0-1 Hewett

There was a slight delay to the start of the deciding set in the men's wheelchair singles semis as both players took a break on Court One.

For a while it seemed Alfie Hewett had resumed how he left off, racing from one side of the baseline to the other to unleash a passing backhand winner that merits mention as one of the shots of the tournament.

However, Gustavo Fernandez dug in to take him to deuce and, helped by a Hewett double fault and backhand error, the Argentine has broken in the opening game.

Cam doesn't really have the experience on the biggest stage and certainly playing at home.

The Goffin match was a huge win for him and I think he will have learned a lot about his game and how to conduct it.

Fingers crossed he can utilise the crowd. The odds are massively stacked against him.

Norrie has been pacing up and down the corridors of Centre Court waiting to come out, but Djokovic has only just strolled up the stairs to meet him.

He does a few last-minute stretches and, being honest, the 20-time Grand Slam champion looks locked in for this one.

  19. 'I feel confident and comfortable about myself' - Djokovicpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

Novak Djokovic has been speaking to the BBC before he faces Britain's Cam Norrie later today. He described his match against Jannik Sinner in the quarter-final as a "tough battle".

"He's someone I respect a lot and admire his game. He was the better player in those two sets, he was dictating and dominating from the baseline, I was always half a step late and didn’t find the rhythm on my shots. And then a completely different match in the last three sets – the pep talk in the toilet break helped," he said.

"I was looking at myself in the mirror and trying to be serious about it with encouraging affirmations and words and being positive and believing that I could do it. I knew if I start the third set well and break him early then he might start to doubt himself which he did, he doesn’t have the experience on Centre Court and playing in big matches so I used that to my advantage, made an early break and never looked back after that.

"The more you do it the better chance you will have to do it again – my record in fifth sets in Grand Slams is very good so experience plays a factor and every time I get to these experiences I feel confident and comfortable about myself."

Djokovic added: "Playing against a British player here at Wimbledon is never really a pleasant experience because the crowd will be on his side but at the same time I know that Grand Slam semi-finals you will always have tough battles with confident players and let the better player win".
