    The sius (see 08:00 entry) turn to boos as Liam Broady walks out first. And the boos turn to cheers when Kyrgios follows.

    A group of Greek supporters - all wearing blue t-shirts and chanting football-style songs - are particularly vocal.

    Broady is a Manchester City fan. He must feel like he's turned up in the Old Trafford home end wearing his sky blue top.

    "I would like to have a deep run. It's something I haven't had since I came back from injury - and I hope I can do it in this tournament."

    It is all going Dan Evans' way now as he breaks David Goffin's serve for the second time in the third set.

    It's a long way back for the Belgian now. Unless things go horribly wrong, Evans will be joining Andy Murray in round two.

    It was quite a moment for Liam Broady to make it through to the main draw of the Australian Open for the first time in five attempts, and he faces Nick Kyrgios who had to pull out of the Sydney tournament after testing positive for Covid.

  5. Evans gets early break in the third set

    Dan Evans has started the third set just as he started the second - by instantly breaking David Goffin's serve.

    After a lengthy, high-quality baseline rally, Evans maintains the pressure and Goffin is forced into the mistake as he sends a forehand long.

    That gives Evans the break and if he holds his serve from here on then he is into round two.

    "I've played on this court many times and always had fantastic suport. This is where I thought I had potentially played my last match three years ago. Couldn't ask for any more.

    "It was a brutal match in Sydney [against Basilashvili]. I had to do a lot of running, a lot of defending but a little confidence from the win."

    Andy Murray wins in Melbourne, three years after the tournament vuirtually retired him.

    Back on the same court, with a metal hip - this is Andy Murray, a winner at the Australian Open again, and a lot of people are looking very emotional.
