    Swiatek 6-2 5-0 Tsurenko*

Can Lesia Tsurenko get on the board in this second set and force Iga Swiatek to serve this out?

The world number one reaches match point, but finds the net. Deuce.

    Swiatek 6-2 5-0 Tsurenko*

Lesia Tsurenko offers a response, edging to 0-30 on the Swiatek serve, but Swiatek picks her spot with a forehand and a miss from Tsurenko brings the world number one back into the game. No mistakes from there. Swiatek holds and is a game away from the second round.

  4. Swiatek breakspublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Norrie v Guinard

We're expecting Cameron Norrie to start his French Open campaign within the next 10 minutes or so.

However, it has just started to rain at Paris - and his court does not have a roof.

Hopefully it's just a light drizzle...

    Swiatek 6-2 3-0 Tsurenko*

Relentless. Three winners, the last a forehand into the open court after sending Tsurenko scrambling out wide, take Swiatek to a love hold.

    Swiatek 6-2 2-0 Tsurenko*

One of the keys to Swiatek's success has been her stone-cold ruthlessness.

Wrapping the opening set means the world number one has now won 41 of her past 42 sets.

Once she gets a whiff of superiority she sticks her foot further down on the pedal.

Only Russian player Liudmila Samsonova, in their Stuttgart semi-final, has managed to take a set off the Pole since the Indian Wells quarter-finals in early March.

    Swiatek 6-2 1-0 Tsurenko*

Pressure? What pressure? It's so far, so very good for world number one and clear Roland Garros favourite Iga Swiatek.

She needed 29 minutes to bag the opening set and she's serving first in the second as she looks to secure her spot in round two as efficiently as possible.

Tsurenko gets herself to 30-30, but the Pole holds and is up and running again.

Game, set and match - Anisimovapublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Anisimova 7-5 6-4 Osaka

Amanda Anisimova beats Naomi Osaka in a Grand Slam once again!

After missing two match points, Anisimova produces a stunner of a backhand down the line to wrap up the match and secure her place in the second round.

What a fine performance from the American, who reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 2019.

Dart defeated by Trevisanpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Trevisan 6-0 6-2 Dart

    Then there were four!

Harriet Dart put up a decent fight in the second set, but Martina Trevisan arrived in Paris in fine fettle, and it showed!

The recently crowned Rabat champion dominated in the first set, and breaking Dart twice in the second set to advance.

But plenty of Britsh action still to come.

  12. Game and first set - Swiatekpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    *Swiatek 6-2 0-0 Tsurenko

The comeback lasted just one game for Lesia Tsurenko. Iga Swiatek wraps up the first set with a break to love under the roof on Philippe Chatrier. Dominant.

  13. Osaka serving to stay in matchpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Anisimova 7-5 5-3 Osaka*

    What grit from Amanda Anisimova.

She finds herself 0-40 down, her serve going nowhere, but she digs herself out of a real hole to keep the break advantage.

Naomi Osaka will serve to stay in the match - and it's just started raining...

  14. Postpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Swiatek 5-2 Tsurenko*

Oh, a double fault from Swiatek! Can Tsurenko take advantage with one of two break points?

She can! The Ukrainian responds with a break of her own to reduce the deficit after a surprising loose game from Swiatek, but it's still a long way back from here...

Seeing Swiatek's level at close quarters is scarily impressive.

So much power, so much control. The forehand is particularly punishing.

Eight winners so far and few unforced errors.

Tsurenko, like most players on the tour, can't cope with it.

  16. Azarenka trailing to Bogdanpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    Azarenka 6-7 (7-9) Bogdan

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka has been locked in a tight match with Ana Bogdan, with the Romanian world number 93 eventually taking the first-set tie-break 9-7.

That first set took 69 minutes - for context, if Iga Swiatek continues playing at the rate she is, she will finish her whole match in a shorter time.

  17. Anisimova breaks against Osakapublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    *Anisimova 7-5 4-3 Osaka

Naomi Osaka had worked herself to 40-15 before a string of errors takes her to deuce.

Yet another double fault from the Japanese hands Amanda Anisimova a break point and, although Osaka saves it, she can do nothing about a firebolt of a forehand from the American to set up another break chance.

Oh. Ouch. Another double fault from Osaka and she gifts a break to Anisimova.

  18. Swiatek breakspublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 23 May 2022

    *Swiatek 5-1 Tsurenko

Too good. That's eight successive points for Iga Swiatek since Tsurenko won her only game, as the Pole breaks to love for the second time in this match. A flat backhand into the net from Tsurenko leaves her 5-1 down, and she appears helpless to prevent the inevitable here.
