Let's hear from world number one Carlos Alcaraz after that hard fought battle, as he booked his spot in the second week, talking to BBC Sport's Annabel Croft:

"It has been really tough. Nicolas is a really great player, coming in playing really well. We played in Rio and it was a really tough match, here as well.

"I was really happy with the level I played to get through this round. The energy we received was a special energy so thank you very much."

Jarry is a tough opponent with a lot of power, what was the key to beating him?"I stayed focused, all the time. I knew I was going to have my chances. It was really close, he has great shots, very solid.

"I would say the key is to believe and stay focused all the time."

There have been champions on Centre Court - what do you see when you play here?

"I remember a lot of matches that I watched since I was a kid, on Centre Court, and so many videos from the legends and their epic matches.

"I am really happy to play here - it is something I dreamed since I very young.

"This court is the most beautiful court I have played on"

    Blinkova 2-6 2-4 Sabalenka

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

That volley from Blinkova at the net to set up break point got the loudest cheer of the match so far. Stunning reflexes.

Almost as loud was the 'ooooooh' from the disbelieving crowd when the umpire called 'let' for what looked like a Sabalenka ace to save break point.

    *Blinkova 2-6 2-4 Sabalenka

It seems like it is all coming together for Aryna Sabalenka as she races into a 40-0 lead but her concentration slips and Anna Blinkova takes full advantage, winning the next three points and it is deuce.

A fifth double fault in the set makes it advantage Blinkova and the chance to break back, but a fine ace pulls it back to deuce.

Blinkova isn't relenting, however, and an excellent quick reaction volley gives her another break point. Sabalenka saves it, and again soon after as she digs in to try and seal this win.

After three British men lost yesterday in the singles, British interest in the doubles on Saturday has followed in similarly glum form...

Harriet Dart and Heather Watson were in women's doubles second round action and won the first set on court 8. However, they eventually lost 1-6 6-2 6-4 to Slovakian pair Viktoria Hruncakova and Tereza Mihalikova.

Playing in the first round, Freya Christie and Ali Collins were 4-6 6-2 before the rain interrupted their match against Czech Anastasia Detiuc and Venezuelan Andrea Gamiz. When they returned to court 17, the Britons lost 6-3 in the final set.

Watson is due back on court later today with Joe Salisbury in the mixed doubles competition. Jamie Murray is also set for mixed action later, plus Liam Broady and Jonny O’Mara go in the men's doubles.

    Tsitsipas 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 Djere

Stefanos Tsitsipas moves on to round four!

Having triumphed in a five-set thriller against Andy Murray over the past two days, the fifth seed wraps up his next victory in straight sets to secure his place in the last 16.

That is a welcome, efficient victory in two hours for the Greek, who has played every day since Tuesday.

Time for a lie down and some Saturday night tele.

He will meet American Christopher Eubanks next, who has just beaten Australian Christopher O'Connell in straight sets.

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 7-5 Jarry

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

A truly deserved standing ovation for both men after three hours, 56 minutes of brilliant action, excitement and drama.

Carlos Alcaraz had comfortably come through the opening two rounds but he had to work so, so hard to finally see off 25th seed Nicolas Jarry.

The crowd loved it, what a match, what a victory and the world number one, for the second year in a row, reaches the last 16 of Wimbledon.

    Breaking

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 7-5 Jarry

    What a match.

Huge serve out wide from Carlos Alcaraz and Nicolas Jarry can only return it into the net.

The world number turns to soak in the adulation of Centre Court after an incredibly hard-fought four-set triumph.

It's Alexander Zverev or Matteo Berrettini in the last 16 for the top seed.

More twists than a twisty thing.

Jarry forehand sends Alcaraz running out of court and the backhand brings up break point - but Carlos Alcaraz brings out a big body serve to save it.

Anna Blinkova has hung in this second set for much longer than in the first but her task looks difficult now as Aryna Sabalenka gets the break for a 4-2 lead.

    Take a bow, Carlos Alcaraz.

A lob that beats the giant backpedalling Chilean lands on the baseline and elicits the biggest ovation of the match.

But it's still in the balance as he can only net from a good Jarry return. 30-30.

I think Nicolas Jarry changed shirts during that changeover. Ate a banana too, to refuel.

As if to say, I ain't going anywhere. And he shares the opening two points of this crucial, potentially decisive game. 15-15.

    Paul 2-6 6-7 (2-7) 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (11-9) 2-6 Lehecka

Jiri Lehecka does it in five!

The 21-year-old Czech player, ranked 37th in the world, is through to the fourth round at a Slam for just the second time in his young career.

He sinks to his knees in celebration before embracing 16th seed Tommy Paul at the net. That was some scrap, the American fighting back from two sets down before falling short in the decider.

The crowd show their appreciation for the efforts of the two players over the past four hours. They have thoroughly deserved that, having been treated to a thrilling encounter.

He moves on to face third seed Daniil Medvedev in the last 16.

Aryna Sabalenka isn't completely happy with her game, puffing out her cheeks and rolling her eyes and her feelings are understandable as she makes a few mistakes in this game to give Anna Blinkova the chance to break again as she leads 40-30.

Sabalenka digs deep and saves the break point, letting out a big scream before closing it out for the hold.

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 5-5 Jarry*

Nicolas Jarry slams down a 125mph serve that breaks a string on the Alcaraz racquet.

The Spaniard uses the replacement to hit a blistering forehand that must have been even faster. Shame they only measure the serves.

Anyway, Jarry plays with fire by finding the line on two successive forehands - third time is not the charm after Alcaraz gets both back in play as the South American hits well out.
