A brilliant rally at 15-15 draws the biggest applause of the match as Aryna Sabalenka wins the point with a shot that lands right on the line.

Sabalenka wins the next one and has two break points but then sends a forehand wide to open the door for Anna Blinkova, before shutting it emphatically with a ripper of a forehand out of her opponent's reach.

    An immediate break back.

  2. Alcaraz taken to deucepublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 4-5 Jarry

Carlos Alcaraz has actually held back on the drop shots today - he's still attempted a fair few but not quite the amount we see from him, particularly on clay.

But a beauty beats Nicolas Jarry all ends up to start game nine of this set - and a delicious drop-volley makes it 40-15, only for the Chilean to battle back to deuce.

  3. Blinkova breakspublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Blinkova 2-6 2-1 Sabalenka

Anna Blinkova is giving Aryna Sabalenka plenty to think about with her movement and it pays off in this game as she secures the break.

Blinkova charges in from the back to send a volley out of Sabalenka's reach before the world number two, perhaps unsettled by Blinkova's movement, sends a return long to hand the initiative to Blinkova.

  4. Game and third set - Davidovich Fokinapublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Rune 6-3 4-6 3-6 Davidovich Fokina

Men's sixth seed Holger Rune is in trouble on court three.

From one set up, the Dane now trails Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who settles the third 6-3 with a second break.

Davidovich Fokina, 24, has already bettered his run to the second round last year, and is now on course to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon for the very first time.

Potentially a long way still to go, though...

  5. 'Alcaraz never looks tired'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 4-5 Jarry

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

I cannot imagine Alcaraz ever tiring. Yes, his conditioning let him down in Paris, but he never looks tired.

He does look a lot more energised than in the third set, when things were mounting against him.

  6. Postpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 4-5 Jarry

Each player sends a forehand long to begin the ninth game of set four but Nicolas Jarry finds the corner of the service box with a big ace and Carlos Alcaraz makes a mess of a backhand overhead volley to ensure the hold for the Chilean.

  7. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Blinkova 2-6 1-1 Sabalenka*

A solid hold for Anna Blinkova, overcoming a couple of small errors and a double fault at 40-15 up to seal the game with a neat forehand down the line.

Blinkova is getting into some good positions in this match and finding opportunities.

  8. 'Huge hitting from Jarry wasn't enough'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 4-4 Jarry*

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

Huge hitting from Jarry, and yet it wasn't enough.

  9. Game and second set - Tsitsipaspublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Tsitsipas 6-4 7-6 (7-5) Djere

One step closer to the fourth round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas edges a second set tie-break against Laslo Djere, sending a huge serve down the middle, to take it 7-5.

The Greek fifth seed, who trailed that by a break at 3-2 down in that set, is one more away from matching his best ever Wimbledon run.

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 4-4 Jarry*

Big serving game from Carlos Alcaraz consolidates that break back.

How will 25th seed Nicolas Jarry respond?

  11. (Not so new) ball, pleasepublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Blinkova 2-6 0-1 Sabalenka

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

One ball has gone missing, it came off Sabalenka's frame and headed behind a bank of TV cameras.

There's a nifty system they have here of having spare balls of a certain age (used for two/three/five games etc) ready for precisely this eventuality ... so another ball of the same age can get put into play.

  12. Watch: Medvedev into last 16published at 17:14 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4 Fucsovics

World number one Carlos Alcaraz is being put through his paces at the minute - and it was a similar scenario for third seed Daniil Medvedev earlier.

He eventually triumphed in four sets against Hungary's Marton Fucsovics - check out the best shots from that Court One encounter below.

  13. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Blinkova 2-6 0-1 Sabalenka

Anna Blinkova is giving this her all but it is tough when Aryna Sabalenka is playing like she is.

Blinkova does win some excellent points in this opening game of the second set but Sabalenka is still able to close out for the hold.

  14. Alcaraz breakspublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 3-4 Jarry

Hands on hips at the net, Nicolas Jarry looks crestfallen.

He saved one break point with a forehand winner into the corner but is a bit slow to get to the net on the next and has to stretch for a shot he puts long.

Back on serve in this fourth set.

  15. Two break-back points for Alcarazpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 2-4 Jarry*

Serve-volley tactics don't work for Nicolas Jarry as Carlos Alcaraz's return is too low and hot to handle. 15-40.

  16. The finest of marginspublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 2-4 Jarry

We've seen some close calls with the line technology in this match but that one takes the biscuit.

The Carlos Alcaraz serve has clipped the line by an atom there - he must have the eyesight of a hawk to have, successfully, challenged it.

  17. Game and first set - Sabalenkapublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Blinkova 2-6 Sabalenka*

Aryna Sabalenka wraps up the set with another break. It took her just 31 minutes to get the job done and she is looking very good indeed.

Game, set and matchpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

Despite winning the first set in their second round match today, British pair Heather Watson and Harriet Dart are out of the women's doubles competition.

They've fallen to a 1-6 6-2 6-4 loss to Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova and Viktoria Hruncakova.

  19. It's noisy!published at 17:04 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Blinkova 2-5 Sabalenka

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Having the roof closed on Court One is really amplifying the noise Aryna Sabalenka makes every time she hits the ball. We have a lot of stats at our finger tips here but there isn't a ranking chart for player noise... I reckon she'd be pretty near the top if there was.

  20. Postpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Blinkova 2-5 Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka follows up the break with a swift hold and she's just a game away from taking the opening set.

There wasn't much Anna Blinkova could do there, although did win a good point with a half volley down the line while on one knee.

Meanwhile, Court One continues to fill up with fans having grabbed a bite to eat and drink before heading back in.
