Murray had a chat with his coach Mark Hilton at the start of the second set and the message must have been to try mixing it up.

The problem is, when Murray has galloped forward, Etcheverry has picked him off with a couple of outstanding lobs.

With exactly an hour on the clock, Tomas Martin Etcheverry brings up set points.

When he thumps down an ace there is a muted response from the crowd.

Most of the 5,000 fans here - as illustrated by the Union Jacks and Saltires dotted around - are supporting Andy Murray.

It's been a tug-of-war for the majority of the contest, but it's the Argentine who finishes strongest.

Andy Murray has a quick word with himself after missing a forehand on the first point as he searches for a route back into the set, but more frustration follows as he sends a shot long from the baseline.

That one's long too, and Tomas Martin Etcheverry will have three set points.

Andy Murray is good fun. He's very well liked. People don't have a bad word to say about Murray. He's fighting the right battles in tennis, like the battle for equality in the sport.

One thing that has been very clear is that he keeps his team tight. You don't necessarily see him around so much. It's very business like, just like all the top players. He's a lot more relaxed and funny which is a side we didn't see a few years ago.

Can Andy Murray hold here and give himself another shot at restoring parity in the first set? He can and, like Tomas Martin Etcheverry, he does so with ease.

In fact, he goes one better, wrapping up a love hold to force the 30th seed to serve out the opener. A pleasing service game for the Briton, but is it too late?

You don't need to tell Andy Murray his serving has not been good enough in recent times.

He knows full well and that was one of the things he was working hard to improve on in pre-season.

But he's struggling with it again today.

Having lost his opening service game, Murray is now staring down the barrel after dropping another one.

Only landing 46% of first serves - and winning just 33% of second-serve points - are indicative of the problems. That must improve.

No worries whatsoever for Tomas Martin Etcheverry in his latest service game, a rare quick hold to 15 leaving him one game from the first set as we approach the hour mark.

There was a brief pause in that previous game because a ball kid seemed to be struggling with a physical issue.

Umpire Aurelie Tourte helped the girl off the court before play resumed after a heartfelt round of applause.

The breather initially appeared to help Murray as he saved two break points.

But it was third time lucky for Etcheverry.

Jiten: Warning signs already there for Murray about things he has spoken about. A lack of 1st serves and especially the serve up the ‘T’ on the deuce and out wide on the ad, means a lack of free points on serve.
