"Alexander Legkov brings the Russian team back into contention and brings a smile to the face of President Vladimir Putin, who is watching from the side.
"At the last exchange, Sweden are still in front but Russia have moved up to silver position, 14 seconds behind. France are in third place and the race seems to be over for the Norwegians who are now down by a minute. They currently sit in sixth position."
Away from the drama of Sochi, why not take a listen to BBC Radio 4 from 11:15 GMT, where 1984 figure skating gold medallists Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean tell us their Desert Island Discs.
It is 30 years this week since they enthralled the world by winning gold at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo with their unforgettable Bolero routine.
Russia president Vladimir Putin is among the crowd watching the men's 4x10km cross-country relay. He will be a happy man so far, with his country currently in second position and in contention for the gold.
Rhys Ingram, external on Twitter: "This cross country skiing looks brutal. Pain is palpable on the faces of these guys."
Zoe Gillings and her coach / fiancé Dan Brier after the Briton finished ninth in the snowboard cross event.
"There's no way she will be content with that," Brier tells BBC Sport's Nick Hope. "She went out there today thinking she could win a medal but gave it her all and I can't ask for more than that."

"Norway have first, second and fourth in the World Cup standings, but the Czechs, who are ahead of them in this race, only have one person in the top 30. That shows how badly it's going for the Norwegians, and how well it's going for the Czechs."
Sweden are winning, Finland are second, with Czech Republic third on the third of four legs.
There are four matches going on in the women's curling, but Eve Muirhead's Britain team have a day off after playing twice yesterday.
The latest scores are USA 3-3 Canada, Sweden 0-2 Russia, Denmark 0-1 Korea and Japan 2-2 Switzerland
Sweden and Finland are together at the front of the pack at the halfway stage. The Czech Republic are in a distant third place, more than 17 seconds behind.
The Norwegian favourites, meanwhile, are nowhere to be seen. They eventually come into the second exchange down in ninth place.
The two legs of classic skiing are now gone and we are into the freestyle skiing.

"This is Norway's national sport. Many Norwegians claim to have been skiing since before they could walk. Many even go to school on skis. And yet you would not think so if you had been watching the last 48 hours.
"Sweden, France and Finland are currently sitting out in front, with Norway a fair distance behind. It goes from bad to worse for the favourites."
Remember we asked you for the worst sporting kits of our time, after consistently poor efforts from Norway's men's curling team.
Bryan Barker on Facebook thinks that Ian Poulter's trousers are pretty shocking, however we think that these patriotic ones that he once wore for The Open would be perfect attire for our men's curling team. Tell us which sporting kits you love and hate via Twitter, external and Facebook., external
Is Poulter's outfit worse than this effort from the Norwegians? There isn't much in it.
GB Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller, external on Twitter: What a Sunday morning. Boarder X is immense. Great watch. Good to see @zoegillings, external out there representing hard.

"The Norwegians are desperate for revenge after that defeat to Sweden yesterday."
The Norwegian relay team are the world champions but the Swedes won the Olympic relay event in Vancouver 2010. Ever since then, the Norwegians have invested a vast amount into Project Sochi.
However, yesterday Norway's women lost to Sweden in one of the tightest relay finishes in the Winter Olympics history.
Great Britain's Winter Olympics skeleton gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold has been speaking to Sportsweek on BBC Radio 5 live.
Describing her emotional medal ceremony on Saturday she says: "I dreamed of the moment of being at the Olympics for such a long time and of the process of winning.
"I didn't dare to dream beyond that point. So I got to watch the award ceremony of athletes before I went up for mine and I was already crying way before I walked out to the stage. All I could do was say to myself, try not to cry too much. When I got up on stage, I put my hands in the air and it was just the most magnificent moment."

"Eva Samkova is just 20 years old, but she came out and rode like an old professional. You have witnessed the birth of a new superstar's career.
"She has shown her supremacy over the women's field. An absolute master class from start to finish. From seeding to final she has dominated the 2014 boardcross race."
The men's cross-country 4x10km relay is under way on the slopes and midway through the first leg, world champions Norway are in the lead, with defending Olympic champions Sweden down in fourth. The Swedish women had a surprise victory in their event yesterday morning.
Eva Samkova, 20, from the Czech Republic, wins the gold medal. She comes first, ahead of Dominique Maltais of Canada, who collects the silver medal with France's Chloe Trespeuch taking bronze.

And off we go again. Zoe Gillings is in the small final, for the six who missed out on places in the final. It doesn't matter for the medals, but it is more excitement.
Gillings finishes third, meaning she comes ninth overall. Amazingly, no one fell over.

"We've had three leaders crash out of the races we've seen. It's just so unpredictable. This is why it's so exciting."
