"The Brazilian duo of Sally da Silva and Fabiana Santos just came as close to flipping as you can get - without actually going over.

"They have already experienced disaster once this week and were literally within a centimetre of doing it again.

"They do make it down though in a painful one minute 00.73 seconds to slump behind Korea into 19th (last) position. "

"That ties it up but, crucially, Great Britain have the hammer in the eighth. It is very much advantage Great Britain at the moment. They are playing really well and know the same cannot be said of Sweden; that is because of the pressure they are putting them under."

A big, cheesy grin breaks out on the face of GB skip David Murdoch, who knows things are starting to work out in his favour in the Ice Cube Centre. Swedish skip Nicklas Edin produces another poor delivery with his penultimate stone in the seventh end to leave him only able to score one with the hammer. That draws Sweden level but gives GB the hammer in the eight - and potentially the decisive tenth.

"A run that the British pair Paula Walker and Rebekah Wilson will want to forget quickly.

"They finish their penultimate run on the Sochi track in 58.88 seconds, around half a second off their best, which is a massive blow to their hopes of climbing into the top 10.

"In fact, I can't see them getting higher than their current position of 12 now as 'USA 3' who were just 0.03 secs ahead in 11th are now 0.41 up - which is a big lead in bobsleigh."

Ravi Vekaria, external: Cant stop watching this curling. So addictive. The tactics. The tension. The drama

Louisa Bennett, external: This is making me far too nervous. Watched the 6th end between my fingers! Come on lads!

"The last shot which could have been so destructive for Great Britain has turned out to be a steal. The Swedish fans have got their head in their hands, it was a tough shot to take.

"Smiles in the British camp, they know they got away with one there. It was a game changing moment which slipped through the fingers of Sweden."

David Murdoch sends down a big weight with his final stone in the sixth end, giving Sweden a difficult draw to get three points in their last effort. This could be pivotal. A trio of Swedes stand midway down the ice to discuss their options. Plenty of head-scratching and mouth-covering happening as they weigh up their options. Niklas Edin goes for the game-changer. It draws, it clips the British stone, but is it enough to push it out of the house? No! GB get the steal.

"Was that a case of big night nerves?

"Leading USA 1 team, piloted by Elana Meyers, had a surprisingly bumpy ride there and with the defending Olympic champions from Canada finishing their run strongly the different between the pair has been cut from 0.23 to 0.11 seconds.

"This will make for a dramatic conclusion to the event later when they push off around 1800 GMT."

"Fairly straight forward rules to tonight's women's bobsleigh.

"After two runs yesterday, there are two more this evening and unlike in the men's event - where there were 30 teams - with only 19 in the women's competition each of them will progress to the fourth and final run.

"Whoever has the lowest combined time after the four runs will be crowned Olympic champion."

As GB and Sweden resume after their brief break in the curling, let's have a gander at the plan ahead.

Host nation Russia is going to grind to halt around 18:47 GMT when teenage ice skating sensation Yulia Lipnitskaya takes to the ice. The 15-year-old, who became the youngest skating gold medallist in 78 years in the team event, is set to begin her quest to become the first Russian female to win an Olympic singles competition.

"Great Britain and Sweden are zipping through their semi-final and have finished their break after the fifth end and are on with the sixth, it's 2-2 and has been an absorbing high-quality contest so far.

"Canada and China have just finished their fifth end and Canada are leading 4-2. You wouldn't really expect anything but tight games at this stage of the competition. It's all about who blinks first."

Great Britain have to settle for one point in a tense fifth end. At one stage it looked as though David Murdoch and his troops were heading for a large score, but Sweden recovered to stop GB leading at the halfway point. Which way is this semi-final going to turn? Who knows.

The Swedes decide that can do, well, nothing before Greg Drummond gives them another headache by knocking one of their three stones out. He adds a fifth British stone into the mix before Sweden go for the big skittle with their penultimate stone of the fifth end. And it is good! Niklas Edin wipes out four GB stones with a big delivery.

"There is no disputing Canada have the biggest support here tonight and a two in the third end brings whoops and cheers from the Canadian fans as they aim to defend their Olympic title and take a 3-2 lead.

"My favourite, John Morris, a firefighter from Alberta, did not make the Canada team this time but they are looking good against surprise semi-finalists China."

The house is resembling a 10-pin bowling alley as six stones (three British yellow and three Swedish red) jostle for position in a cluster at the end of the track. Someone is surely going to blast one down the middle and send them all flying? GB, who have the hammer, bring a seventh stone to the party before the Swedes have a conference to discuss how they can remove the British gatecrashers...

Sweden have gone to the High Street for their curling kit, with "fast-fashion" clothing company H&M providing their gear. Can't imagine many Swedish curling kits hanging on the racks in their UK stores. Anyway...the stylish Scandinavians retain their 2-1 lead - and the all-important hammer - after a scoreless fourth end.
